Unemployment Holds Steady
Prince George, BC – Statistics Canada is out with the April Labour Force Survey and there's been very little change in the local unemployment picture, year over year…
The jobless rate last month was 4.7-percent, compared to 4.6-percent in April of 2013.
According to Stats Can, the participation rate in the workforce actually increased from from 68.2-percent in April of last year, to 74.6-percent last year.

According to seasonally adjusted figures released by BC Stats this morning, the BC unemployment rate for April remains unchanged from March at 5.8-percent, but there were 3700 fewer jobs in April. (graph at right courtesy BC Stats)
Across the country, the unemployment rate held at 6.9-percent – once again, though, fewer jobs were available. Across the country, there were 29-thousand fewer jobs to be had.
