Dig Turns Up Piece of the Past
Work stops at gas line dig, where bones were discovered – photo 250News
Prince George, B.C.- Work on a natural gas line in Prince George turned up a surprise yesterday.
The crew working in the laneway in the area of 4th and 5th Avenues, unearthed some bones.
The work was stopped immediately to allow time for experts to examine the bones and determine if they were human .
UNBC Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Richard Lazenby attended the scene and was able to make a determination.
The bones were that of a dog.
While the animal had been buried some time ago, the find was not old enough to be considered “archeologically” significant as was the case when ancient animal bones, including a partial skull, were discovered during the construction of what is now Parkwood Place. "We are pleased we were able to get a determination quickly so that Fortis could resume work” says Coroner Donita Kuzma .

Wow, now we can do dental study on the skull and inform the other dog world who it was.
We’re very lucky to have world-class talent like Dr. Lazenby here in Prince George. Apart from potentially saving the city thousands of dollars that would otherwise be spent importing an expert, the more people like him call PG “home,” the more people like him will call PG “home.”
Fido and Rover can now get closure.
This story is for the dogs.
Woof woof woooooof
