Twist to Missing Boater Story
Prince Rupert, B.C.- It has been two weeks since anyone has seen 24 year old Jonathan Knight, a week since RCMP in Prince Rupert were advised a Zoom 230 boat had been found in the Ecstall River which flows into the Skeena. Police were able to confirm the boat belonged to Knight, who had been reported missing on May 8th.
The boat was found right side up, with paddle, floor pump and a carrying case inside. There was no sign of Knight, who was last seen on the afternoon of May 7th.
An extensive search on the Skeena and Ecstall Rivers was carried out by RCMP Marine and Air Services, Terrace Ground SAR, Department of Fisheries and Oceans and the Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue Station 64.
The search has failed to turn up any sign of Knight.
Police now believe Knight has chosen to live in the wilderness and doesn't want to be found.
While the search is over, Police are hoping that if anyone has any information on his disappearance, or if they should come across him on the river, on the trails or in a community, that police be notified so they can let his family know his status.

Sure would have been nice of the guy to tell someone of his plans; if indeed it was his plan to live in the bush.
Axman, what happens if your hiding. and don’t want to implicate family.
It is a shame that people could be driven that far back, but it does happen.

Not following you here. If the guy knew he was going off to become a hermit somewhere he should have told somebody -it didn’t need to be a family member. He could have even left a note in his boat. Anything would have been better then doing it like he did.
I saw a show on Channel 9 about a guy who built a nifty cabin in Alaska. It was cool.
Apparently his status is “mind your own business and leave me alone”
he might be on to something!
