Damage Between 150 and 250 Thousand In Fire On Hiller Road West Of Prince George
Prince George- Damage has been estimated at between $150 and $ 250 thousand dollars in a fire that destroyed a large shop on Hiller Road, off highway 16 west , just west of the city limits last night.
The fire broke out in a large wood frame shop at 10.45 pm. and quickly engulfed the building. The nearby residence, and some out buildings, were saved by firemen from three halls.
Beaverly Fire Chief, Bruce Perrin , says they are thankful for the help of the other volunteer fire departments who came to fight the blaze. Perrin says "we used over 150,000 gallons of water to fight that fire but were able to prevent it from, spreading not only to the owners home, but the nearby bush".
Destroyed in the blaze was a shop full of 40 years of collectables, including a 1995 Freightliner truck.
There was no insurance on the building or the contents.

No insurance? Unfortunate.
No insurance on collectibles! :-/
What other volunteer fire depts fought this blaze? I thought Beaverly was the only one west of the city? Im sure they would like to be acknowledged by name and not just by “other” depts.
mooseheart, It could be Pineview or others. They support each other.
Another fire and yet another uninsured loss. With all of the fires that have happened lately in our area, I have a tough time understanding why so many people seem to remain uninsured.
A 95 freightliner is a collectible?
Sad for no insurance, regardless
They remain uninsured because the insurance companies are thieves. It cost me $2300 a year to insure a house and small shop. Because I live out of the city limits.
bentely, those of us that live within city limits pay ridiculous property taxes and , outrageous water sewer and garbage rates. But because we live within the city limits, we also pay for and receive fire protection services. Because of this, we pay lower insurance rates.
Others choose to live outside of city limits. Some like to brag that they do not have to pay the high city fees that those of us in the city pay!
So, you save on property taxes and municipal services, but you are charged more for insurance because of lack of fire protection.
I pay more for some things, because I live in the city. You save on some things, but pay more for others because you live outside of the city! Seems like things balance out in the end. That is, unless you want to have your cake, and eat it too!
$2,300.00 per year to insure your house and small shop? Sounds to me like that would be money well spent! How does $2,300.00 per year for fire insurance compare to the value of your house, shop and belongings?
How much to you spend each year for your cell phone, your cable/satellite tv and your internet? How much for entertainment? How much on recreational vehicles and toys?
I guess it’s all about priorities!
and bentely, I’m not so sure that the insurance companies are thieves! What I do know is that they make a profit most years and a lot of that profit is set aside to pay claims. The fact that they are profitable gives me piece of mind that if my house every burns down, my insurance company will have the money to pay my claim!!
