Integris Steps Up to Help …Again

Prince George, B.C. – Once again, Integris Credit Union has stepped up to the plate and knocked one out of the park in the name of helping a non profit society.
This time it is the Exploration Place.
The victim of two break ins over the past year. First, someone broke into the children’s urban garden and stole all the produce. The second heist was a break in at the Little Prince train station, and thieves took off with children’s toys.
“Our security system couldn't’t produce images that would assist in catching those responsible” says museum CEO Tracy Calogheros.
The cost of a new security system was a little out of the reach of the museum as it carried a price tag of $17 thousand dollars. That’s where Integris stepped in.
Not only did the Integris people show up with a new garden gnome and some plantings to replace the produce lost in the first heist, they came up with $10 thousand dollars to put towards the new security system. “We now have a security system that produces high quality images during the day or night, images which can be used in court” says Calogheros, “The new system is linked to a smart phone, so at any time, we can see what’s going on.”
This kind of proactive philanthropy is not new to the folks at Integris. Dan Wingham is the Manager of Partnerships and Development for Integris. The credit union is already a partner with the Exploration Place annual “Science Alliance” event and says supporting the Exploration Place is really a no brainer “With it’s preservation of heritage, work with children, and its setting in Fort George Park, how can you say no to that?”
Among the philanthropic efforts in the past, Integris has offered assistance in the wake of the Lakeland Mill explosion, built a new kitchen for a women's shelter and was a key player in the development of the downtown community garden on Victoria Street.
The community partnership with Integris means the Exploration Place can shift its focus away from trying to raise funds and on to the programs and events at the museum.

What kind of sad sack burglars steal stuff like this from a non profit?
Pathetic.
Loser steal from non-profits. Sad. But better cameras are a good start.
Kudos to Integris! Exploration Place is a great facility on a shoe string budget and it’s nice to see local money helping out local non-profits during times like this. Credit Unions seem to get more loyalty from their members than the big banks, this is a good reason why.
Too bad they don’t give the pathway to the cameras so many people day or night could be tuning in to watch the security footage. Maybe then someone could be apprehended in the act.
Another gimmick by Integris Credit Union to increase it’s attactiveness.
Two break-ins over the past year is sad and it is good to see an organization helping out. Maybe they (or somebody else) will take a look at helping the railway museum – they were hit multiple times this spring by copper thieves who caused hundreds of thousands of dollars damage to almost all of the artifacts on site.
