Opening Your Home to Winter Games Visitors

Friday, May 30, 2014 @ 3:51 AM

Prince George, B.C.- Not everyone who  comes to Prince George for the Canada Winter Games will want to stay in a hotel and the  2015 Canada Games  people know  there will be some  P.G.  residents who will want to open up their homes to those visitors.

The 2015 Canada Winter Games Society  is presenting  a “Homestay Host” program for those who are interested in billeting, renting a room, or renting their  entire home  during  the Games.

This isn’t about making  extra space available because of concern  there may not be enough  hotel rooms  says Alyson Gourley- Cramer,   “This is something we had always planned on having.  It’s just another way to reach out to people to offer them another form of accommodation, especially for  some of  our more specialized volunteers like medical or  official languages .”

She says it’s  also  a way for  the people of Prince George to  show off northern BC’s  hospitality  over the course of the  the 18 days of  competition and  cultural events.

Those who are interested in  offering  their home,  or room to a visitor  are invited to  register with the Homstay Host program and fill out the application form.  “There is an approval process, your home would be evaluated to make sure it is what is being portrayed.”  Once the site has been reviewed and approved,  it will be added to the 2015 Canada Winter Games   listing where visitors can scroll  through the listings to see what is available.

You can  link to the application form here,  or  pick up  an application form  at Canada Games House on Quebec Street.

I am interested in this. 4 bedroom newly updated house in the heritage area. What would be a fair rental rate?

First your wallet, now your homes! Open up wide PG and say ahhhh. :)

Axman can you tell us what pg residents are actually paying for the games I think a lot of people would like to know what the real number is?
