Nanguz The Mascot Makes His Debut
Prince George, B.C.- Today’s the day the 2015 Canada Winter Games Mascot “Nanguz” makes his debut.
The story of the multi-sport talented fox, who has northern lights highlights in his fur, was the winning submission for the mascot contest.
Created by 10 year old Kaitlyn Muir of Prince George, today is the first time Nanguz will be off the page and mingling with folks at the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day at Masich Place Stadium in Prince George.
“We are so looking forward to having Nanguz out and about ‘in the fur’” says Alyson Gourley-Cramer, Manager of Communications and Community Relations for the 2015 Winter Games.
He will be officially introduced around 10:30 this morning.
Nanguz will give all the runners a ‘Y’ high five (the YMCA’s ‘Y’ logo is imprinted on his paw) and the runners will be off on their Healthy Kids Marathon. Nanguz will stay at Masich Place Stadium to interact with some of the folks and some official photos, then he’ll head over to the YMCA because from 11:00 ‘til 2:00 it’s the Healthy Kids Fair.
“It’s really an opportunity for the general public to meet Nanguz, get to know him and give him a ‘Y’ high five” says Gourley –Cramer.
It will also be the kick off to where community groups can start booking Nanguz for their own event. She says the mascot for the Sherbrooke games, Zig-Zag the hummingbird, attended more than 300 events as a promotional ambassador in the months leading up to those Games.
