Park Dedication Will Honour Former Councillor

Prince George, B.C.- It is a sliver of land on the east side of Ferry Avenue, across from the Prince George Hospice House.
It is home to two park benches, where folks can sit and enjoy the view of the Fraser River and as of 10:00 this morning, this sliver of land will have a new designation, as it will be officially named the Bob Martin Park.
Bob Martin served as a Councillor for the City of Prince George from 1974-1977. A former instructor at the College of New Caledonia, he, and his wife Anne, were active community supporters.
Bob Martin was 79 when he passed away in November of 2012, just a few weeks after the death of his wife of 52 years.

Nice idea with the local connection to the naming of a park. I’m sure he would be proud if he could see this today.
Hopefully some future council of the day doesn’t decide to sell it for some condo’s or something.
I sincerely hope that the park benches in this area are better maintained then the ones at paddlewheel park.
