Another Possible Candidate for Conservative Nomination

Thursday, June 19, 2014 @ 4:00 AM

Prince George, B.C. – There  may be a new candidate seeking the nomination for the federal riding of Cariboo-Prince George.

T.J. Grewal says he is seriously thinking about having his name stand for the nomination when it opens.

MP Dick Harris , sitting member for the riding, has not announced whether he will seek re- election but rumours abound that he will not.

Grewal, who sits on the Prince George Airport Authority Board, operates a large number of fast food outlets in Prince George,  including Subway, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell.

Grewal says " I really became interested in what was happening in the riding when a group got a hold of the board of the riding " .  He is referring to the recent Annual General Meeting   where many of the same people who supported  Shari Green in her bid for the Mayor's seat were elected to the  Board of the riding. ( see previous story)

There are four other possible candidates in the wings, one from Vanderhoof,  two local men who have yet to go public,  and of course,  Mayor Shari Green who was voted onto the Board of Directors for the Cariboo -Prince George Conservative Riding Association. Green has not formally announced she is seeking the seat. She did attend the annual meeting of the Conservatives in Calgary last fall along with Marshall Smith, who assisted her in her run for Mayor.

Isn’t it amazing how rumors take flight.

Harris hasn’t said one word about retiring yet everyone is clamoring for his seat which is not vacant.

Last time Harris was asked about it publicly, he talked about some “bucket list” things that were not done yet. He said he was in for the long haul on Prosperity Mines so that should keep him around I think. Also talked about the new ice arena for Quesnel and other “unfinished business”.

So now it appears we have two factions hoping he will leave….one being his political oppostion who clearly know from experience that they dont have a chance as long as Harris is around….and then there are the opportunists who lust for Harris’ very secure seat. and it appears the if Harris doesn’t step down, some could just challenge him anyway in a Nomination fight (evidence Sherri Green’s recent posturing).

One thing for sure is that Harris has been around for 20 plus years and has won seven consecutive elections, and has done a hell of a lot for the people he has represented…if he stays we will continue to benefit, and if he goes, he will leave big shoes to fill.

Only Harris will make the decision whether to stay or go.

Patience is a virtue…

Tj scowl? Or uh grewal?
Yeah that would make Sherrie happy.

did a lot for what people? The people of the Okanagan. Doesn’t matter, cons are finished here after the Enbridge decision.

Doesn’t matter who they put up I doubt they will get elected because if the Enbridge fiasco!

Lieberals in Ontario have more than one “fiasco”. They got elected. Keep wishing.

NoWay. Do you live in a dream world. Do you really believe that there are enough people in this riding opposed to the pipeline (and who vote) to take out a Conservative candidate??

Highly unlikely. Those who voted Conservative in the last election are not likely to change their vote because of the pipeline.

Do new candidates have to put their muzzle on before or after they are elected ?

Do new candidates have to put their muzzle on before or after they are elected ?

Rocking the boat and going against party lines does not a political career make. This goes for every politician of every stripe. Please shake head. Thanks.

Ataloss……muzzles???

Ya might want to check the muzzles on the kids cowtowing to Mulcairs every whim.

Like what about all the NDP MP’s that now have their butts in a sling because Mulclair told them to send out the illegal brochures using government funds…Some good stories still to come in the media methinks…

Or what about the NDP MP’s who were told by Mulclair to hire staff for their Hill offices and then have them work in Montreal at NDP Quebec headquarters.

That was good media reading..looks like those MP’s are going to have to dig deep personally to repay the taxpayers for that Mulclair directive.

Oh and by the way….not one single NDP MP has ever taken Mulclair to task for the fraudulent directives he gave them.

Guess they just assume that if Mulclair says its OK to fraudulently take taxpayers money…it just must be so…

gimmeabreak, it’s not just Mulcair that inappropriately took taxpayers money… Re: Duffy, Brazeau, Wallin… they all do it.

I want to see Green take this spot… after her disappointing stint as Mayor I doubt PG will ever elect her for another local riding.

As I posted on a previous article “Its interesting to hear the politicians talk about any issue as if they were really opposed. They, in most part, are only siding with those opposed because they have their sites set on Ottawa not the welfare of their constituents. This is prime election fodder for Trudeau and Mulcair.

Givemeabreak too . Not one of our 21 conservative bc MPs has the guts to stand up and defend harpers pipe dream in the house again today . That’s the point . Nothing to do with anything else . Most of us learnt as children that two of more wrongs never add up to a right .

A conservative will win the riding. Even the mayor…….shudder! One of the longest sitting MP’s, Invisible Dick, living in the Okanagan, making some token appearances, and building up that gravy pension. For all his time, he has never held a position of importance…..eternal backbencher.
The conservatives will not pay attention to this riding….it’s sewn up. No vote buying to do.
The opposition will not even bother with this riding….it’s a lost cause.
