Prince George, B.C.- The third annual  Cougars Alumni Charity Golf Tournament is set for  July 18th and 19th, and it promises to  bring back some of the  brightest stars to hit the ice  at the CN Centre.

Up to 30  former members of the Cougars  are expected to be  on hand  for the  tournament which  will raise funds for the  Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation for the purchase of SPECT CT Camera.  “It’s a $1.4 million dollar project that we’ve been working on for  the last year, and we are almost there” says Judy Neiser, CEO of the Spirit of the North Foundation.

Neiser says the SPECT CT camera is a state of the  art piece of equipment “ It can   look at   anything to deal with oncology, cardio vascular, blood flows, joints,  it can even detect dementia, it’s a wonderful  piece of equipment and we’re so happy to be able to  raise the money  towards something that is going to  do positive things in the community.”

The tournament is already sold out,  but  there will be  a meet and greet opportunity for Cougars fans who would like to  get an autograph  from some of their  favourite players.  So far, 28  former players are committed to  the tournament,   although Tyler Bouck may have to bow out because his wife is due to  deliver their  child  around the same time.

Aligning with the Spirit of the North  Healthcare Foundation  was  a natural fit says  Greg Pocock, President of the Prince George Cougars,  because the  Foundation is   of the north, for the north and in the north , “This  tournament raised over $25 thousand dollars in year one, $43 thousand in  year two, every year it gets  bigger and better and we’re proud  to be part of it.”

Here’s a list of the players  who have  already agreed to   be part  of the tournament:

Dan Hamhuis, Eric Brewer, Brett Connolly,  Blair Betts, Chris Mason, Dan Tyrell, Tyler Bouck, Ronald Petrovicky, Nick Drazenovic, Eric Hunter, Scott Myers, Quinn Hancock, Chris Peterson, Justin Cox, Andrew Luciuk, Garrett Thiessen,  Tyler Brough,  Dan Baum,  Mike Kiesman, Shaun Gendron, Spencer Asuchak, Cody Carlson, Tyler Halliday, Taylor Orser, Dan Gibb, Brian Matte,  Ryan Hanes  and Klarc Wilson.

The Meet and Greet  with the fans will take place Friday  July 18th   from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00  at the Prince George Golf and Curling Club
