Grewal In The Race Changes The Whole Picture

Friday, June 20, 2014 @ 3:45 AM

There may be some re thinking on the part of a few of those unannounced candidates for the riding of Cariboo Prince George now that T.J.Grewal has said he is seriously thinking about taking the plunge.

Grewal will get a lot of support from the Indo Canadian community  and that fact  cannot be taken lightly given the fact that recently at a temple meeting, here was  Councillor Cameron Stolz  in attendance (no doubt looking for support for himself in a re run for council), but also drumming up support for Shari Green .

Grewal  will get strong support from the community outside of the temple given that he has operated a successful business in this community.

It was laughable to hear one of the more recent rumours that if Shari Green were elected to the federal government she would get a cabinet post. Problem is for those that make that statement is, one she hasn't yet announced, Two, she hasn't received the nomination and three , you don't get a cabinet post just because you're from Prince George and your first name is Shari.

It sort of reminds me of when Stolz ran for the Conservative nomination in the north riding. He was looking around for accommodations in Ottawa before the vote was counted,  and we all know from the eventual count that Stolz didn't need to go house shopping.

Grewal didn't like the manner in which the new board was elected and that was very likely the final straw that pushed him over the top.

While Marshall Smith who " assisted " Green in her campaign for the Mayor's run  and was with her when she went to Calgary to the National conference, may have been able to "assist " Green in the Mayo'rs race, the federal scene is a much different bag.

I don't know who came up with the "10% savings in every department" in the run for the Mayors job , but best not try and run that by the folks in the riding in any nomination run. How does that saying go, once bitten, twice shy?

There are a number of places that Green should not go looking for support in any nomination bid, the temple is one, Haldi Road is two, and the Pine Valley golf course is three.

Come to think about it, Shari Green has been seen around Williams Lake and Quesnel  more recently. Any run for the nomination will require more than normal support from those areas.

I'm Meisner and that's one man's  opinion.

I’ve never met T.J.Grewal, but I took some course at UNBC with his son. A fine upstanding young man his son is. So that is a big plus having done a good job as a parent, and can only help him having a strong family around him.

It would be more like Sherrie meeting her match. Tj scowl would just be a little better at the greasy necessities of being a politician than Sherrie. Be just as scared of tj as Sherrie. But hey, anything is better than scary Sherrie hitting ottawa on pg’s behalf.
As for a cabinet post? That has to be the dumbest suggestion in quite some time.

Good for TJ for throwing his hat into the ring. Many rumors abound regarding the race to replace “I’m not dead yet”Harris. As a political junkie, I have to hand it to the Green team for the hostile take over of the riding association. What other tricks the new riding association has up their sleeves only time will tell. Game on!!!

“Grewal will get a lot of support from the Indo Canadian community and that fact cannot be taken lightly given the fact that recently at a temple meeting,”

Why will he get this support? Are you saying the Indo Canadian community will support Grewal – because he is East Indian? If that is true, then the Indo Canadian community is inherently racist if the main driving factor in their voting decisions is the candidate shares their ethnicity.

In which case, the millions of dollars we spend on fighting racism, have been directed at the wrong target as it seems the Indo Canadian community is as racist as the “white” community – voting along race lines rather than who’s the best candidate lines.

Personally, I give them more credit than that. The last provincial election had an Indo Canadian NDP’r run against a white no-name Liberal – and look how that turned out.

It is south Asian, not indo-Canadian or East Indian. Get with the times don’t be racists.

I think he’s Canadian, like all of us.

ski, you are naive to think the indo community is not a political force. They have been major factors in many elections, particularly Provincially, and have swung many ridings to their prefered candidate. They don’t necessarily vote on racial lines, but large sections will vote as a homogenous group.

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!

Sometimes you just have to shake your head.

Mr. Meisner,
The headline for this “opinion piece” is misleading! I thought it was about the announcement that TJ Grewal was “thinking” of running for the Conservative nomination.
Over 60 % is about some one else…..

Ben,if you have a axe to grind with our Mayor, why don`t tell the whole story rather than screwing up a legitimate news story about TJ Grewal?

Ron J Davis

Hell,it all makes great news, me thinks Green may have well screwed up from the gate and TJ part of the Dick clan so have fun the store awaits you Lol

It is amazing to me that Dick Harris who lives in the oakanogan and has done nothing for this riding to speak of but continues to collect on the trappings of office gets support from Ben Meisner. However Sherri Green get CONSTANTLY knocked around for working hard.

Ben, please come clean with why you don’t Le her or better yet, why she won’t speak to you? I never could understand it.

It doesn’t look good on you, it undermines your site and undercuts your assertion that you are a journalist.

Working hard? For who? Oops, my bad.

When you question the goings on of the queen bee she gets her pout on and won’t talk to you.

“When you question the queen bee she gets her pout on”

That has to be the sexist remark I have ever heard. Typical of the trolls on this site though.
