Prince George, BC – Members of Carrier Sekani Family Services' WalkTall program were in Fort George Park yesterday, enjoying National Aboriginal Day celebrations…

The young people were taking in the live entertainment at the bandshell.

Youth mentor, Calvin Tedesco, says the program looks for ways to teach at-risk youth about Aboriginal culture and offers up opportunities that teach life skills.  "So we may be cooking one day, or going to the gym," he says.  "Or we may go hiking, or attend culture camps."

While the others have been participating in the program for two years now, Tristan Pierre has been involved in WalkTall for just three weeks.  "I really had nothing to do at home," he says with a small laugh.  Tristan says he's excited to be part of the group and involved in the planned activities.
