Rain Delays Otway Road Rehab

Monday, June 30, 2014 @ 4:01 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Contracted crews conducting the City’s road rehabilitation work this year will be trying to make up some lost ground this week.

Inclement weather last week prevented crews from performing the work scheduled for Otway Road between the CN Rail tracks and the Otway Ski area. That work is now scheduled for this Wednesday,  weather permitting.

The following road rehab projects will be started this week:

Otway Road (between CN Rail Tracks and Otway Ski Area)

Estimated Cost $300,000

Blackwater Road (Highway 16 to 1200 metres south)

Estimated cost $180,000

Cook Crescent (Highway 97 to Croft Road)

Estimated cost $85,000

The City says these projects are expected to be completed by July 4th, with all work subject to weather conditions. Motorists are advised to look for alternate routes whenever possible and to drive with caution around road crews.

Why are they not doing croft to. It is in 10 times worse shape then cook

Probably because its a good way to control the speed of vehicles.

I think they are only fixing as far as the people need to go for winter games venues…everything else is low, very low, priority

My thoughts exactly bc racer.. Disguise these fixes as something they are doing for us tax laying citizens but really they are spending money on these roads so they can hide the true cost of the games.

I think someone needs to get their tin foil hats re-calibrated…starting to see conspiracy in everything! Now if the roads mentioned don’t need remediation you might have a point…but I’ve been on all of them and they are in seriously bad shape!

And Otway road gets tons of traffic out to the ski area! Is that even in the city limits?
