Canada Day Celebrations Ready to Roll at Fort George Park

Prince George, B.C. – A big fireworks display atop Connaught Hill will wrap up Canada Day celebrations in Prince George tomorrow. But there will be plenty going on at Fort George Park throughout the day.
The fireworks show, which is made possible by Canfor, begins at 11 Tuesday night. And you should note that Connaught Hill Park is closed to vehicles and pedestrians all day Tuesday in preparation for the fireworks display.
Earlier on in the day the Multicultural Heritage Society has a jam-packed slate of events to help make the day a fun one for all in attendance. Live entertainment runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., opening ceremonies go at noon, with the national anthem presented in English, French and the mother tongue of the Lheidli T’enneh. There will be birthday cake marking the country’s birthday, face painting, a Juggling Librarian, wares of local crafters, information booths, medieval fighting demonstrations and the many booths featuring foods from around the world.
Also on hand for the enjoyment of the youngsters, Nanguz, the mascot of the 2015 Canada Winter Games, and Safety Bear.
Environment Canada is predicting a sunny day with a high of 25 degrees, so you’ll want to dress accordingly and make sure everyone stay hydrated.
