Wildfire at Wheaton Lake in Mop-up Stage

Prince George, B.C. – A wildfire which broke out north of Prince George earlier this week is now in the mop-up stage.
Provincial Fire Information Officer Navi Saini says the Wheaton Lake fire, about 70 kilometres north of Prince George, broke out on Wednesday. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. At the outset Initial Attack crews were brought in to fight the fire. Air tankers, which have been stationed at the Prince George airport, have also been responding since Wednesday.
Saini says the fire was contained to eight hectares. Unit crews are continuing with the mop-up effort.
