Harkins Leads Canada Into Ivan Hlinka Tournament
Prince George, B.C. – Prince George Cougars’ centre Jansen Harkins leads Canada into the 2014 under-18 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Championship which runs today through Saturday in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
Harkins was one of 44 players originally selected to attend Team Canada’s National Men’s Summer Under-18 Team Selection Camp in Calgary. He is the first member of the Cougars to take part in this event since Brett Connolly made the team in 2009.
The number two pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft led all Cougars rookies with 34 points in 67 games last season. And he captained Team Pacific to a Silver Medal at the 2014 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Canada’s first game of the Ivan Hlinka Tournament is today in Slovakia against Switzerland. You can follow Team Canada’s progress at: http://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/Team-Canada/Men/Under-18/2014-15
