Heat is On
Prince George, B.C. –It’s another heat wave.
Yesterday the temperature topped at 32 degrees in Prince George, just a degree below the record of 33. degrees for August 11th which was set in 1990.
“We have a ridge of high pressure that is dominating over the province” says Environment Canada Meteorologist Colin Tam “We expect to have near record breaking temperatures this week in the Prince George area.”
This has been a record breaking summer, with numerous temperature records shattered throughout B.C.. The hot dry weather may be welcomed by those on vacation, but the conditions have created drought conditions in the north east as well as Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
The conditions have also left the forests parched. Lightning strikes have touched off numerous fires, leading to one of the worst fire seasons in B.C. in the past decade.
