Wildfires Curtail CN’s Operations
Friday, August 15, 2014 @ 2:31 PM
Prince George, B.C.- CN has issued a notice that it is suspending operations along the Telkwa, Skeena, and Bulkley subdivisions of its main line near Burns Lake because of the Chelaslie and China Nose wildfires.
The wildfires have already resulted in the evacuation of areas near Houston and Burns Lake. The CN line runs within the Burns Lake evacuation zone.
The suspension of CN’s operations in the area will have an impact on intermodal traffic that is supposed to move between Prince George and Prince Rupert, as well as carload traffic moving west of Endako.
The evacuation orders are expected to last about 36 hours but there is no word on when CN may find it safe to resume operations through the area.

Strange that they should mention the Chelaslie fire in this context. It’s about 75 km from the railway track. The China Nose fire is fairly close.
The delay & lost business arguably is part of the incremental cost of climate change.

Yes of course. There were no forest fires before climate change.
That’s because there wasn’t any forest to burn before climate change, the first nations hadn’t planted them yet.
haha
you are exactly right on the money FURTREE EXCEPT FOR ONE THING you forgot to mention my brothers all got rounded up like cattle, thrown on a reservation, our children taken from us forced into residential schools, taught how to endure and suffer in silence rape, torture, whippings and starvation our land stolen from us for no MONEY. HUGE corporations cutting timber becoming extremely wealthy and once again without permission and you guessed it FURBALL NOOOOOOOOOOOOO MONEY! SO why do you think we are in this predicament today, go ahead just take an educated guess.
God, cry me a river, might help put out the fires. Ice, need some cheese?
Nice comment ice, I was looking for an enlightened and informed response but I see there are none. ;-) The art of debate and informed discussion is a rare thing on this blog as of late.
NMG, and others have noticed this as well.
Ice , Which predicament are you referring too, is it the Iraq crises, the Ukraine Russian conflict , Israel- Hamas war, the serious outbreak of the Ebola virus? The list goes on and on.
FYI, these were used in Canada as well.

No surprise though, seems we still elect governments that target children for mistreatment even today.
MR. FURTREE I have BEEN IN CONFLICT most of my life, so sometimes my fingers just get going a little too fast on the keys. THESE OTHER predicaments worldwide, well little ol ice isn’t going to solve them, most of them created by religious overtones but they all share one thing in common abuse of power. IF I DID HAVE THE power to control these worldwide situations it certainly wouldnt be at someones expense. CREATE harmony, live in harmony, die in harmony, peace brother.
Your correct Ice, those other predicaments worldwide are all created by religious overtones. Religion and power go hand in hand.
Ice brings a whole new element to this forum . . . thoughtful intelligence.
I blame religion for 99% of what ails the world. Residential schools were Canada’s holocaust.
First Nations may be our only hope to save the environment. We should be booking time now to stand with them in protest against corporations that would suck the natural resources out of this country with zero benefit to its citizens.
One question to Ice, why do so many still cling to Catholicism after all that has happened?
