Quesnel and PG to Receive Curbside Recycling Starting Tuesday
Prince George, B.C. – 22,000 Prince George residences and another 3,300 Quesnel homes are scheduled to start receiving curbside recycling this Tuesday.
The program is managed by Multi-Material BC (MMBC) on behalf of businessses that supply packaging and printed paper to residents.
Over the past six weeks households should have received two new recycling boxes – a smaller one for newsprint, cardboard, and household papers, and a larger one for metal containers, plastic containers, and paper packaging that held liquid when sold – along with a recycling guide that shows how the program works.
Not everyone will be serviced by the program including businesses and those living in apartments or those who do not receive garbage collection.
There are also restrictions on what can be recycled including glass bottles and jars, plastic bags, and plastic foam packaging.
Those items can be dropped off in Prince George at the Hart Return-It Centre or P.G. Recycling and Return-It-Centre.
Managing director Allen Langdon says this will complement service recently launched in Terrace, Smithers and 100 Mile House.
“Most of the feedback we’ve got from residents is that they are really excited and that they’re embracing the change.”
