Hectares Burnt This Year Second Most in Over 50 Years
Prince George, B.C. – The amount of forest burnt this year has surpassed the ten year high set in 2010 (337,149 hectares).
In fact the 338,513 hectares burnt this year is second only to the whopping 855,000 hectares burnt way back in 1958.
“It has been a fairly busy wildfire season although we did respond to fewer fires this year compared to last year,” says spokesperson Navi Saini with the BC Wildfire Management Branch.
“The fires we did respond to were quite large and the high to extreme danger rating in many areas definitely caused many fires to display aggressive fire behaviour and grow quite rapidly.”
And the fire season isn’t quite over either considering there’s still 70 wildfires burning that are at least 10 hectares in size.

Will make an excuse to the BC government to go into deficit and then blame the teachers for it.
And a pile of regular posters here will agree with them.
