Spike Belt Grabs Speeder
Prince George- a 24 year old man is scheduled to appear in court in Prince George in December, following a high speed chase.
On September 1st, a District Traffic officer, was conducting radar enforcement along highway 97, near Rocky Creek, when he was approached by a pick up at a high rate of speed.
After activating his radar, the vehicle took off reaching speeds of 160 kilometers an hour.
Two officers who were on the highway further north, attempted to stop the truck , but it continued north bound at a high rate of speed. For safety reasons the vehicle was not chased any further .
When the original officer was heading south to Prince George, he passed the suspect vehicle at Windy Point Resort. A road check was set up at the Mackenzie junction at the Parsnip bridge . The suspect again failed to stop but his vehicle ran over the spiked belt resulting in all four tires going flat .
At that point the driver came out of the vehicle with his hands above his head.
His driver’s license was immediately suspended for a period of 15 days, and his vehicle was impounded.
His driving privileges are also being reviewed.

Take the license away for good! One less moron on the road.
Should be one year loss of driving privileges followed by one year of probation. Should you have any speeding related infractions during probation, automatic five year loss of driving privileges with the chance to state your case as to why you feel you should get your license back. Automatic life time ban if you are caught to be driving while suspended.
the moose: I agree with you wholeheartedly. For too many years the government has been far too lenient with driver’s licenses. Its a loaded weapon, no different than a gun.
160?!? The horror!!!
You old timers realize that’s the old 100mph right? You used to do it in a 4000 pound muscle car with 14″ wheels and drum brakes on bias ply tires ;)
The way I see it is its all about money. Long term suspension = no money going into insurance, gas, new vehicles, repairs or whatever else part of the economy drivers help put money into.
Having said that, if you get nabbed pull over and take it like a man. Don’t run.
Couldn’t have said it better “interceptor “
George Carlin says: Anyone going faster than you is a maniac, anyone going slower is a moron. My hat is off to the old gal in the grey Hyundai texting while attempting to climb Peden Hill, yup, that was me tailgating and honking at you.

Brings back memories of close calls. Still here, more by luck than due to driving prowess.
Back then, you knew you were doing a hundred, and the car felt like it was on the ragged edge of control. I’d add to interceptor’s list the lack of anti sway bars on many ‘muscle’ cars of the time, they were all motor; brakes? handling? what for?
Today, a ton diesel crew cab TRUCK! can run at a hundred (160) without much fuss or drama.
Not that I’ve ever done that of course:)
metalman.
Seems like you can’t pass one car on the hills passing lane at that speed… then back down to 90
This guy is no different then what the liberals are doing to the teachers.
Still trying to figure that comment out buzzinga, you mean teachers are zooming around and the BCPSEA and Vince Ready is tossing out spike belts? Would make sense trying to bring them back down to earth…
15 days and his vehicle gets impounded? Why is not more of a punishment since he did not stop for the cops? This loser shouldn’t ever be on the road again endangering other motorists.
No only the difference is this guy is going to be charged with a criminal act as apossed the government can do what ever it wants regardless.
