Forest Fire Threat Easing
Prince George, B.C.- There is good news on the forest fire front.
The cool wet weather means the open burning ban can be lifted in the Prince George Fire Centre.
As of noon tomorrow, the ban will be lifted.
The fire centre says clearing and burning activities at this time of year can help reduce interface wildfire risks, but must be done safely with the proper precautions taken. Those safety steps include having enough people, water and tools on hand to keep the fire under control
The cooler and wetter weather conditions have also led to decreased fire activity on the Forres Mountain wildfire and the Tenakihi-Mesilinka Complex wildfire. This has prompted the rescinding of an existing area restriction around these fires.
The Tenakihi-Mesilinka complex fire was first discovered July 8th and since that time has burned more than 60 thousand hectares.
The Wildfire management Branch also advises the Peace RiverRegional District’s evacuation alert for the community of Tsah Key Dene has been lifted.

I think the fire crew did an excellent job this year considering the conditions we had. A job well done.
