I also have a hard time believing we have a Prime Minister that committed Canada to WW3 without a national debate or a vote in Parliament. We have a Prime Minister that likes to glorify Canada’s role in wars of past, but has a complete lack of understanding how nations get dragged into needless wars. I think Stephen Harper is the most dangerous Prime Minister Canada has ever had.

When one looks at our NATO commitment made to patrol the skies of Estonia, it is essentially a red line for NATO with Canada on the trigger line patrolling the Russian boarder in Europe. If Harper and Biard had their way NATO would be at war with Russia already over the Ukraine. It wouldn’t take much of a provocation to see a plane shot down from either side and then that would essentially be a declaration of war.

So Canada is committed to WW3 on a hairs trigger… and yet we had no national debate if we wanted to go to war, and no consideration in our wider Parliament for what it is Canada would be wanting to achieve with going to war.

In WW2 Britain gave a war guarantee to the Poles, who then took it to mean they did not have to compromise with the Germans on Danzig, and the belligerence of an emboldened Poland brought on an uncompromising response from the Germans… essentially outsourcing the British decision to go to war to Polish hot heads who didn’t know the first thing about diplomacy… a massive disaster for Britain and the world… kind of like Harper and Biard wanting to outsource Canada’s decision for war to a bunch of hot head fascists that took power in a coup and would do almost anything to get others into their war through almost any lie or provocation against its Russian speaking population.

So here we are now a nation waiting looking and listening to the gong show in the Ukraine, and wondering what the trigger will be that will obligate Canada as a belligerent in a potential nuclear war. At least with our planes in the skies of Estonia they have a little bit more of a stable outlook on the world… thank god we aren’t as involved in the Ukraine itself or even Poland for that matter with our fate in the hands of those conniving belligerents.

I think if Canada wanted to help NATO out and make a strategic move that counts we would by those Mistral class helicopter carrier ships that France built for Russia and are now ready for delivery. Russia has been bragging they intend to use these ships as soon as they receive them… their intended area of use will be the Arctic where they will compete with Canada for legitimacy of Arctic claims.

Each ship carries something like 16 helicopters, 13 tanks, 60 armored personnel carriers, landing craft, quarters for 800 troops, and can sail at sea for up to 6-months at a time. This would be a capability that would fit in well with Canada’s needs in the Arctic as well as for NATO commitments… and the deal is there for the taking now, we could have it in service in a month. If Harper really wanted to get to Putin then getting these ships would do more harm to Russia than any sanctions Canada could impose. IMHO

And for the improvement of the week for the city of PG, my shout out goes to Purolator Courier for their most excellent improvement to our downtown with the paving of the entire yard that use to be the Byers Transport yard.

It was like a giant dust factory right in our downtown only 2-blocks from 3rd and Victoria in its hay day. I guess being owned by Canada Post they have the money to do it right and be good neighbors. Its a huge plus for the downtown that this was finally done.

Oh and when is Harper going to start putting pressure on his allies in Ukraine to release their ATC tapes? Why the coverup? Why all the blocking of a proper investigation? I think the world deserves to have all the facts on the table considering the implications of what is going on in that part of the world, and the potential for a wider war. We all have a right to know if we are being played or not.

Still see a lot of people driving around using their truck box as a garbage dump… they pass me on the highway and cups and lids and little bags of fast food all flying out of the box and these people continue on ignorant of how dumb they look… might as well have a troll in the back tossing garbage at passing cars. See it all the time.

We should have spot audit patrols of parking lots by garbage enforcement officers handing out fines for loose garbage in the back of truck boxes that can blow out on the highway IMO. Shame these people as much as possible.

Ok… New topic.. Ever notice the meats at that grocery store on Ferry when they put them on for 30% off??? ever compare the price of the regular ones?? They rewrap the almost expired meat and jack up the price and put a discount sticker on it.. They do the same to French bread. Instead of selling it as day old, they slice it up re bag it and put it on for 99 cents with all the other discounted stuff, when day before it was unsliced at 99 cents.

Why do we not invest into our military in Canada? We should be thinking of our future and start now to protect our resources. Hopefully close to this time next year we will be saving good bye to Harper Land.

Apparently budget cuts are causing the RCMP to consider modifying the famous Musical Ride by eliminating the horses. During an interview (CBC) a spokesman said that there will still be a Musical Ride but instead of riding horses the RCMP members will be walking and jogging a similar routine! No, this wasn’t reported on April 1st, so it may be for real!

Would like to put out kudos to the company HCL / HEL. They are working on the highway passing lane by Vanderhoof and have been doing an excellent job. Virtually no disruption to traffic except the 70 kms speed limit the whole time they have been working. In my opinion, that has been the best contracting around. They accomplished the same last year on the Fort St. James highway. The government can choose them anytime to work us!

Harper starting WW3. Those fighters are under control of NATO not Harper. You are conveniently ignoring the makeup of NATO and the why of its existence. Putin is chipping away at democratic countries because NATO has been allowed to weaken. That is being quickly turned around now.

Am I the only one who thinks that it is odd for UNBC to be having its 25th anniversary this year? Normally you count from when something actually starts up, but they’re apparently counting from the passage of the UNBC Act. The first student enrolled in 1992 and full official operation wasn’t until 1994.

ISIS, thanks for the clarification on your name. I also thought it was a pretty bizarre handle and wondered why anyone would come up with a name like that. It is very unfortunate that through no intent on your part, your pseudonym happens to be more or less the same as one of the most horrifying groups to surface in modern history. You might want to consider taking a mulligan and coming up with a new handle. I know that if some guy who is really named “Zack Tucker” hit the news after committing heinous atrocities against humanity, I would quickly create a new pseudonym and let everyone know that I am posting under a new name due to the accidental horror of my old one. One other thing it is isis not ISIS. One of the main indicators that something is an acronym is the use of all caps like NATO, CIA, FBI, CRA, SCOC . Some like scuba have that started out as an acronym have become words and most people would not know what the letters stand for. Self Contained Underwater Breathing Aparatus i think. My u/n is two words back to back exactly like no and way or eagle and one.

isis, just to clarify this. Did you have this moniker before or after the terrorist organization used it. If before, then one has to assume that you would be smart enough to know that people would confuse the two.

@ NoWay. So enlighten me. The Russians took over the Crimea in 1783 and your buddy Nikita Khrushev gave it to the Ukraine in the 1950’s. I can understand why the Crimea would like to return to Russia, but maybe the land should return to the Turkish empire ? Round round we go.

I have heard the pulp mill in MacKenzie is looking for a millwright with a bachelors degree. I think millwrights with a post secondary degree are almost a myth. I wonder if they are going to say they had no suitable applicants so they will have to bring in a temporary foreign worker. Shame on them if that is the case.
