Three dead in Quesnel Crash
Quesnel, B.C.- Three people have died in a crash just south of Quesnel on Highway 97.
RCMP have determined that a northbound pick up truck, crossed the center line on the highway near Sales Road around 7 this morning, colliding head on with a southbound SUV.
The crash has claimed the life of the 48 year old male from Kelowna who was driving the pick up truck, the 73 year old female driver of the SUV (from New Hazelton) and her 70 year old female passenger who was from Kelowna.
All three died at the scene and names will not be released until next of kin have been notified.
At the time of the crash, there was extensive fog in the area, and visibility was limited. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but alcohol is not believed to have been a factor.
Highway 97 remains closed in the area, however, there is a detour available.

Maybe sort of like yesterday morning? It was really foggy on the highway north. I, pulling a load, was right down to 70 KpH at times. But some guys in pickups, I guess they have radar vision or something, went barreling past doing their usual 120 KpH. Poor animals if they stepped out on the road.
I understand that this happened near Sales Road. There is a bit of a curve there.
