Victims of Quesnel Collision Identified
Prince George, B.C. – The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identities of the three people who died in a motor vehicle collision near Quesnel Thursday morning.
They are: 48-year-old Brian Scott Knutson of Westbank, 73-year-old Shirley Wakefield of New Hazelton and 70-year-old Alma Helen Wert of Kelowna.
According to the RCMP report to the Coroner, Mr. Knutson was the driver and sole occupant of a pickup truck that was heading north on Highway 97 around 7:10 a.m. Thursday. Approximately 10 km South of Quesnel, near the intersection with Sales Road, the truck was involved in a head-on collision with a southbound SUV driven by Ms. Wakefield and in which Ms. Wert was a passenger. All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate these deaths.
