Prince George, B.C. – A woman is lucky to be alive after her car collided with a fully loaded logging truck on Highway 97 just before the junction with Highway 16 at around 4:30 this afternoon.
Prince George RCMP Constable Coralee Wilkinson says the car was heading southbound on the inside lane when it was struck by the truck.
“It (car) had merged into the inside lane but the truck didn’t see her and pinned her against the median.”
She says the woman suffered minor injuries to her leg. Meanwhile the white logging truck fled the scene and is believed to be headed westbound.

I went through 16 and 97 half an half an hour ego and the traffic was normal.
This plus the one of the white chip trucks that blew off a straight stretch into the oncoming ditch north of town. Wow those professional drivers are really struttin their stuff today.
It was backed up pretty bad at 5:15, but they had the car on the tow truck and looked like they were getting ready clear out.
I can’t believe some of the drivers in this town though, traffic was backed up and of course no warning of the lane that was closed until you went around the curve and could see. A few people were letting vehicles from the left lane in, but the majority of drivers are bumper to bumper and not letting people in. It was the truckers for the most part that were leaving room for traffic to flow.
The truck should have stopped but its pretty scary what car drivers do around trucks.
If it weren’t for others watching out for them, a lot of people would never make it through the day.

Sounds like the driver of the car didn’t merge properly. The logging truck driver probably never even saw her.
There is no merge there… Plus the car was on the inside lane?
Read it again Axman, the truck is the one who took the merge, and hit the car that was already on the inside lane.

Probably had to, to avoid hitting some idiot driving a 4 wheeler………….again!
You’re right give more, it is scary what some 4 wheelers do around trucks. It is really amazing more of them aren’t injured or killed.
She probably came racing up alongside the truck while it was changing lanes.
If the driver of the truck didn’t do anything wrong, he wouldn’t have fled the scene. There’s highway cams on highway 16 W. They will find him. I was almost wiped off the highway outside of PG when I went to pass a logging truck and when I was about half way past, he decided to pass the car in front of him. Didn’t look to see I was passing.
Yes, professional drivers make mistakes too but by far, the four wheelers make the most. I often wished I had a policeman in the passenger seat with a radio. He would probably be scared too.

This is what it says in the story:
“It had merged into the inside lane but the truck didn’t see her and pinned her against the median.”
I assumed the ‘it’ referred to the car.
There is no such thing as professional driver. BC classifies it as unskilled labor.
Prince George drivers are the worst! Thankfully half of them probably haven’t driven outside of their P.G. bubble, couldn’t imagine the carnage they would create on our highways. I guess that leaves something to be thankful for.
This guy could have been from outside PG. Yes, PG drivers can frustrate me, but then I just remind myself what its like driving in Edmonton…
