Prince George, B.C. – The paving continues in Prince George. Most of the projects are either entirely or partially , under the banner of the $9.8 million dollar road rehab budget for this year.
Those projects are:
- Penn Rd. (Boundary Rd. to Willowcale Rd) estimated cost $335,000
- Walls Ave. (Near Vance Rd. and the Yellowhead Hwy) estimated cost $65,000
- North Nechako Road (Rosia Rd. to Toombs Dr) estimated cost $700,000
- Somerville Rd. estimated cost $250,000
- Chief Lake Rd. (Sparrow Rd. to Hwy 97) estimated cost $585,000 and
- Wallace Cres. Sanitary Project, while most is covered through the Local Area Service fees being charged to residents, the City is paying $300 thousand dollars of this project (total estimate for paving not available) so this project is only partially under the road rehab budget for 2014.
Paving crews will also be working on the 4th Avenue conversion project, but the cost for that work is covered within that project’s overall budget and the paving is not part of the City’s road rehab budget
.Weather permitting, all projects are expected to be completed by October 3rd.

Still waiting for the new sidewalk on Gladstone – it’s been WEEKS since the crew came to dig out the grass, trees etc. People in the neighbourhood are playing road cone chess with the tripod stop signs and the orange cones – it has been way too long since they started this project!
The city crews sure are taking their time on the Chief Lake Road water main project, and they must have an aversion to signage, I have never seen it this bad. Its as if they do not want the travelling public to know what is going on in time to seek an alternate route. Moronic, actually.
And will they finish the underground work in time to re-pave the road?
metalman.
Do they pay less if the paving is done later in the season?
Pave it in the fall and no one gets to enjoy smooth pavement, by spring the potholes will arrive?
