Koehler Announces Run for Council
Prince George, B.C. – Prince George City Councilor Albert Koehler has made it official, he will seek re-election the municipal ballot this fall.
During his first term, Koehler focused on keeping tax increases to a minimum and supports the banning of fluoridation of the water supply.
“As a city councillor it is about the greater good of our community,” says Koehler. “Your opinion counts.”
Koehler supports the services of road rehabilitation, snow and ice removal and maintaining infrastructure but says his campaign will focus on innovation and education and continuing his efforts to develop a tax framework that will see potential tax increases held to no more than the cost of living.
He would also like to see the development of a “concrete plan for growth in our city, with includes potential direct flights from Europe.”

Our opinion counts… Really? Then even though there is overwhelming support against the PAC you keep voting for it..
Guess just another politician saying what he thinks he needs to say to get votes, then will continue to do what ever he wants once in.
Gee, Last time I checked we lived in a free country, where even politicians are allowed to have their own opinions, and make their own decisions.
The fact that this guy has supported a PAC doesn’t mean that he would try to ram it through if the majority of PG Taxpayers voted against it.
The fact that YOU don’t like it doesn’t preclude him from having HIS own opinion!
P Val, he was also the only councillor interested in keeping our property tax increases low. It was Albert who pointed out that they are increasing at an unsustainable rate.
Good luck Albert!
I like Albert. It takes a while to get to know him but if you have an issue he will listen and will be supportive, if you show him why. Besides he invented a autoloader Multi-Bit Screwdriver and that get my vote. OK maybe not but it is cool.
Best of Luck Albert.
your opinion counts (if it matches his), but he does like to rock the boat on taxes and spending. Tough call but if it is between him and Wilbur or Green’s twin brother it is a no-brainer
And here I thought I had no one to vote for! Now there is one! Good Luck, Albert!
Perhaps someone could explain to me how we could attached a tax rate to the cost of living??? Who’s cost of living.????
Does he mean the rate of inflation???
In any event, Koehler did not do much in the three years he was in Council, and even though he seems to be a **nice** guy he seemed to always be out of his element.
He is probably much better suited to his trade as an engineer, than in trying to be a politician.
I voted for him last time around with some expectations, however they never materialized.
Who proofreads these articles? Do they just copy and paste press releases as they get them, or does someone at 250 actually type these typos out? Virtually every article has spelling and grammar errors in them. A site that is always touting how wide read and popular they are should spend a little more effort to be a tad more professional.
Huh: I guess everyone makes a few mistakes. You should look over CBC or The Canadian Press. They are much worse and they are supposed to be the real professionals.
Huh.
I am far more interested in how Albert Koehler is planning on spending taxpayers’ money in this burg than the odd spelling or grammatical error
which may appear in any article about him.
The guy has deep pockets, that’s for sure.
Koehler spent $39,965.00 on his 2011 campaign, pretty much all of it coming out of his own pocket, except $1500 in donations. According to 250 news, that worked out to $5.45 per vote.
Either he is extremely passionate about being a councilor, or a little crazy.
My challenge with Koehler is he is always talking about keeping taxes low but then votes in favor of giving tax breaks to developers or in favor of new developments that increase the sprawl or in favor of spending millions more to build and operate a PAC. You can’t do both.
He seems to be just like our current mayor, say one thing and do another and taxes just keep going up for those of us who aren’t connected to the power brokers at city hall. He also voted in favor of jacking up user fees for the rinks. Someone was also telling me he doesn’t even live in the city? How can that be?
