Prince George- A 26 year old driver, with a learners license ,and no supervisor has been issued a ticket ,and had their vehicle towed from the scene of a crash in the 400 block of Douglas , at 11:19 this morning.
Apparently the male driver hit the gas pedal, rather than the brake, and the vehicle plowed into the restaurant.

No injuries, but the Mai Thai will remain closed until such time as they can receive a report on the structural damage to the building.

It’s hard enough to keep a restaurant open in this town, and then you have to deal with stuff like this.
Haha this reminds me of the same situation at Wood Wheaton’s quick lube bay back in the spring.

actually it was the dreaded I am self important I can do as I like and don’t have to follow the laws syndrome
an “L” decal..means have licenced driver with you so this one was out driving alone… “rules are for every one but him”…
Should lose his licene for minimum 5 years….

Yeah, I was at the back wall, woulda bin under the crush of bodies. Just hope they’d all had a shower this morning.
When you think about it, what’s this driver looking at? As a learner, he has to have some one with a valid licence. Didn’t. The restaurant is out, what, 20,000 in renovations?, Profits? So ICBC has to sue as he is uninsured. Don’t think this driver will be getting a DL til he’s paid the bill.
The fact that the dude was 26 and still running on a L license should tell one a thing or two. T
Be also interesting to know whose car it is. Either they condoned an inlicensed driver to take the vehicle or it is “stolen”.

Do you really think having a supervising driver along would have prevented this?

On the Burn Notice weekends Micheal the main character claims if you are going to drive a vehicle through a building, then you always aim for the windows, because the windows don’t have support beams under them. Looks like he did fine in that regards… if he was trying to drive the vehicle into the building that is. Its odd that he hit halfway between two parking stalls unless he doesn’t know how to park between the lines either?
