Parent Rep Takes District to Task
Prince George, B.C. -The president of the Prince George District Parent Advisory Council feels School District 57 could have done a better job communicating with parents last week.
Sarah Holland is referring to how parents waited until 3:30 pm Friday to find out when schools would open this week.
“Parents were looking for information in a timely manner and it didn’t happen. Not only did you not share important information but you could have told parents when the information was coming,” said Holland to the Board during the public input portion of the meeting.
She says the experience has taught parents to look elsewhere for information including “the media.”
Superintendent Brian Pepper replied by saying the district had to wait for two sides to ratify the deal – both the BCTF and BCPSEA.
In the case of BCPSEA he says that didn’t take place until 3:30 Friday afternoon.

Sarah sounds like she needs a day job, hobby and something to do rather than whine all the time.
lildigger, I don’t think Ms. Holland is the villain here. The villains are the supposed “adults” in the government camp and the BCTF.
During the strike I only looked to the media for any news regarding the strike. Hello. That’s their job.
I would have thought that having dealt with Pepper she’d know better then to expect timely communication.
this is a stupid article.. 250 is trying to stew the pot.
I think axman split the block wide open with his comment … the morning and evening news on Global had interviews with some of the metro Vancouver superintendents on the Wednesday and Thursday discussing potential return to scenarios and CBC radio did likewise on the noon Friday show discussing specific school issues. yet Superintendent Pepper didn’t want to announce details prior to the last vote announcement late on Friday … opinion on my part but typical of pepper to lead from the back of the parade
—> of course News 250 is “stirring the pot”; isn’t that in the job description somewhere for most journalists?
