Who’s Running for Re-election on School Board?

Prince George, B.C. – 250 News has learned at least four of the seven school trustees with the Prince George School Board plan to run for re-election in November.

Tim Bennett, Betty Bekkering and Brenda Hooker will seek their second terms in office while Trish Bella will run for her third term.

Board Chairperson Sharel Warrington, who’s nearing the end of her third term is undecided, while Kate Cooke says she’s still “tossing the idea back and forth” as to whether she’ll seek her second term.

That leaves Sharon Bourassa who hasn’t yet responded to 250 News regarding her future plans.

For anyone else interested in stepping forward, the nomination period begins Tuesday, September 30 at 9:00 am and ends Friday, October 10, at 4:00 pm.

· Village of Valemount, 735 Cranberry Lake Road, Valemount, BC

Chief Election Officer for School District 57 Sharon Cairns says six nomination packages have been picked so far – all in Prince George (not including downloaded packages).

An information session for those interested in running for School Board has also been scheduled for October 7 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at the district board office on Ferry Avenue.
