Sally Ann Has New Digs
Prince George, B.C. – Today was the official “soft” opening of the new Salvation Army donation depot in Prince George.
The 17,000 square foot facility is located at 3500, 18th Avenue and Administrative Assistant Sharon Harder says it’s an exciting time for the buildings employees and volunteers.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for our guests as well as our workers. The larger location allows us to accommodate more people at a time with more product coming in and being able to have the product readily available.”
The previous donation depot was located on Ogilvie Street and she says the larger building will help meet the growing demands of the community.
“The need has increased for sure. We feed approximately 4,000 people per month.”
And the building will also serve the growing demands of the north as Harder notes Prince George is the northern hub for Food Banks, B.C.
Captain Neil Wilkinson says the building was purchased for the Salvation Army by an anonymous community donor and says they hope to have a grand opening in either the spring or summer of next year.
Anyone interested in volunteering can call 250-564-4000, extension 25.
