Mayoral candidate Don Zurowski files his nomination papers with Deputy Electoral Officer Deanna Wasnik as witness

Prince George, B.C.- Today is the first day of the nomination period for the  municipal election in Prince George.

Council and School Board Trustee hopefuls can  file their nomination  papers today through to  4 p.m. on October 10th to ensure their name is on the ballotMayoral candidate Don Zurowski was among  the first to file today,  Councillor Lyn Hall ,  who is also  running for the Mayor’s chair, says he will file his papers within the next couple of days.

Today also marks the first day that election signage can be  displayed on property throughout the City.

If a candidate changes their mind,  wishes to withdraw and wants to ensure their name is removed from the ballot, they must do so no later than 4 p.m. on October 17th.

We have a Deputy Electoral Officer as well as an Electoral Officer (who makes over $130,000 a year)? Isn’t that a bit of overkill?
