Brenda Hooker Seeks Second Term on School Board

Tuesday, October 7, 2014 @ 3:39 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Unfinished business.

That’s the reason Brenda Hooker has decided to seek re-election as School Trustee in the Prince George School District.

“There is still hard work to be done as our District continues to face budget challenges and the underfunding fallout from the Government’s Net Zero and Cooperative Gains Mandate.”

She says her background as a Certified Professional Accountant would be an asset for the Board moving forward.

Hooker says she has three main goals if re-elected:

1. Using her financial skills as the District grapples with funding challenges.

2. Rebuilding relationships in education following the recent labour dispute which she says “left scars to heal”.

3. Continue to provide a strong voice for all students in the District. She says the needs of students today are much different than they were 20 years ago and as a result the delivery must be “invigorating” to keep kids engaged.

She also believes she’s delivered on three main promises she made during the last campaign which were to work really hard for students, to be accountable, and to bring integrity to the position.

I spoke with Brenda after an All Candidates meeting in the last round of elections and I was impressed at her understanding of the issues and she hadn’t even been elected at that point. Now here we are after 3 years and I believe that the promises she made in the beginning, have been followed up to the best of her ability. Am confident that she will represent our district well again if she is re elected.
