City Wants Input in Provincial Transportation Blueprint
Prince George, B.C. – Later this morning, the Province of BC will be announcing its consultation plan in the development of it’s transportation blueprint which will be developed by the end of this year.
The blueprint will outline the Ministry of Transportation’s plans for highway upgrades and infrastructure for the next decade.
While there are some on Prince George City Council who want to ensure the City makes a presentation to the Province for consideration in the development of that blueprint. The argument is that the Province has spent billions on transportation projects in the lower mainland and a fraction of that amount on the highways in the north so it’s time the north became the squeaky wheel.
Councillor Dave Wilbur says the “blueprint may leave us in the dust.”
The call was to start working immediately with the North Central Local Government Association to create a presentation for submission to the Ministry.
Council has opted to wait until it hears the details of the Province’s consultation process and then reconvene to deal with this item.

As I said before. We have three MLA’s from this area, ie; Bond, Morris, and Rustad. Surely they are doing everything in their power to ensure that the transportation needs of the Central Interior, are being looked after.
The North Central Government Association should be working with these individuals to see what is being done about the Transportation needs of the Interior,.
Perhaps the three Amigo’s already have a plan, and everything is set to go. Surely with all the pipeline hoopla, and the LNG expectations coupled with the large number of accidents on Highway 16 West, there must be some sort of plan to be part of this 10 year transportation expenditure.
We wait with bated breath to hear from our elected representatives.
