Prince George, B.C. – Pacific Western Brewing has announced wheelchair basketball star Avril Harris as the recipient of a $2,000 bursary as part of their Hometown Heroes program.

Harris, a Ness Lake resident and veteran of the 2007 and 2011 Canada Winter Games, is thankful for the honour and says the money will be put to good use.

“It will help me to travel a bit more without having to take days off work.”

PWB’s Sales and Marketing Manager Ben English says it’s the third Hometown Hero they’ve announced so far and notes the final selection will be made early next year.

He says it’s a way for the brewery to invest in the community and to help “athletes, coaches and mentors from all over the province reach their dreams.”
