Good to see Jeff Cunin in the running. Best of luck, we need some young guys with vision!
Grizzly2 – agree on the idea we need some young people with vision.
We need to get rid of the old boys club. Unfortunately no matter how the turnout is we are still stuck with the old boys club in administration.
The top administration needs more accountability and if they were in a Corporation I think they would have been gone a long time ago….
So which one is Gus ?
Still would like to see the candidates for the Regional District of Bulkley Nechako, I can not find anything on their web site. sure hope we get someone new running in area F, which surrounds Vanderhoof all the way to Bobtail Lake. The incumbent has been in for 28 years!!! time for a change.
It’s like going to the movies and deciding which one will suck the least.
Gus is not on that list.
I was hoping someone else would come in and take a run at the Mayor’s chair.
oldcoot – So which one is Gus ?
It would be a very bad political move for “Gus” to come forward…
Palopu – Do you know him personally?
Now with so many running we will be in the same boat as last election.. It will be to vote someone out not in..Not good.
Brian Mix was a bit of a surprise, good on you Brian.
Gus has his own blog called Gus. He cares about our community and when I met him became instant friends. He is not on the list.
Everyone loves Foxy /Travis Shaw, but what the heck is “prominent communication ” and how is it a platform?
If it isn’t against the rules, Lives Here Long Time – can you provide enough information to find Gus’s blog – he has interesting things to say and I’d like to read the blog.
Enough names on that list to turf all the current councillors.
Let’s do it!
There is one name conspicuously absent from the nominations, and that would be yours, Ben. You’d think that one with so much obvious disdain for the manner in which the rag tag brand of current politicos wield power, that you’d belly up to the bar. No? That’s a shame — truly.
Sure Gus’s blog is gus.jokat.ca.
Junebug:

We don’t need Gus we now have eagal1

I want to know why people can run for City Council and not live in Prince George. Even if they own a business in Prince George they should not be able to run; it makes a difference as it is always homeowner’s taxes going up.
I sure hope some of these new faces will come out with a check list of what they support for our future! (OR DON’T-like PAC) All these new faces are a good thing; and actually indicate the changes that people are seeking.
Some of the last council deserve a second round, I think; but balanced with some new councillors. There will definitely be a new tone when the dust settles.
Politics can, at times, be all about the “catch phrase”. It’s up to us as the voting public to listen and decide who is full of B.S. and who is the best person to represent the people of the community, and it’s interest as a whole.
It would be fool hardy to vote someone into the Mayor’s seat who hasn’t served at least one or two terms as council. So we have a choice, between two people who have some time in overseeing the city and it’s operation. Now we need to find out where they see the city going for the next 4 years and how it’s going to get there. Are these people team players? Will they listen to the others on council and listen to the voice of the tax payers?
We don’t need shifty people in Council and the Mayor’s seat, we need people who have foresight, integrity and the desire to foster growth in our community that is financially responsible. It’s a user pay world now and this needs to be reflected in the decisions that our new council makes. This job these folks are apply for by our vote is not just a make work position, it’s serious and can make or break the financial future of the city and it’s residents.
I for one am sick and tired of the tax grab scams, this is a city and the in coming council need to start off by treating this place as a city and run it accordingly. Decisions need to be made, not everyone will like them, but as long as they have been discusses with the population and it’s in the collective best interest, then it needs to be done. But it needs to be about Prince George first, everything else is back ground fluff.
The public needs to ask some specific questions in regards to their concerns.
If I was to ask the general question to a candidate what their view was on a PAC I would not be getting a proper answer.
If one was to direct a question to infrastructure and the candidate says yes they are concerned and it is a priority I would be thinking twice about their answer.
The majority of the public is not aware there are two categories of infrastructure. They are: “hard” and “soft”.
SOFT infrastructure consists of such things as CULTURAL, recreational and sports!
I personally never thought of it this way until I started researching how a few other cities operate.
