Trustee Candidate Aims to Improve Work Environment
Prince George, B.C. – Sheldon Harris isn’t your typical School Board candidate in District 57.
“You’re probably going to hear a lot of candidates talking about declining budgets, aging infrastructure, class size, composition, issues that may or may not arise from the recent strike action and all of these are important challenges for the district, however I’m particularly concerned about the work environment in this district.”
He says his experience working for six northern school districts including Prince George in a Ministry of Education funded program called “Special Education Technology,” whose mandate is to assist school districts in educating students whose access to the curriculum is restricted, has given him first hand knowledge that change is needed.
“I work in other districts and I know it doesn’t have to be like this. I’ve been dealing with more and more staff in this district that appear to be disillusioned, they appear to be questioning the purpose of their work.”
If elected, Harris says it will take the effort of all board members to help change things.
“I’m looking forward to working with the other trustees to identify attainable, affordable goals and commit to a management environment that creates positive changes to the work environment for all employees in this district.”

This sounds promising. Most candidates for school board don’t have any sort of platform.
