IMSS to Host Job Fair

Thursday, October 16, 2014 @ 3:38 AM

Prince George, B.C. – Immigrants looking for work are invited to a job fair tomorrow (Friday Oct.17).

It’s being hosted by the Immigrant & Multicultural Services Society of Prince George and will feature representatives from a wide range of companies including banks and restaurants.

Executive Director Baljit Sethi says the fairs are held bi-annually and helps provide much needed direction for new Canadians.

“When new immigrants come to Canada they have no idea where to go or where to work. Ask any newcomer and they’ll say we need a job, whatever it is.”

She says it’s also beneficial for local companies dealing with the skills shortage.

“It’s difficult for an unemployed person to find a job. At the same time it’s very hard for the employer to find a suitable employee.”

The fair goes from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m on the 2nd floor of the IMSS building at 1270 2nd Avenue.

Why are they coming to PG? Most of big business is going to their country,

Retired 02 is asking why the new immigrants are coming to Canada and Prince George. Unless you are First Nations, most likely for many of the same reasons your predecessors did.
