Time To Hear From Those Seeking Your Vote
Prince George, B.C. – The campaign for the November 15th civic election is kicking into high gear this week with your opportunity to hear what the candidates have to say about their vision for running your city.
Of course Wednesday night saw an overflow crowd turn out at the Bob Harkins branch of the public library to watch the initial foray in the mayoralty contest between Lyn Hall and Don Zurowski. And beginning Monday morning at 9 o’clock on CFIS-FM (93.1 on your radio dial) Ben Meisner will start firing the hardball questions at the candidates in the first of fifteen programs featuring those who wish to represent you the citizens on city council. He has also reserved one slot, on November 13th, for a discussion on the fluoride referendum which will appear on your ballot.
But prior to Meisner’s kick-off Monday with Messrs. Zurowski and Hall, you have your first chance to hear from the 25 people running for one of eight councilor seats today. They’ve been invited to an all-candidates forum at the Fire Pit drop-in centre, 1120 Third Avenue. It begins at 11 this morning and comes at the conclusion of Homelessness Action week. This forum gives people who use downtown services a chance to ask the candidates what they plan to do about the numerous social issues that are faced daily in the downtown core.
Everyone is welcome to take an interest and attend the forum.

We were down town at 11 this morning enjoying the farmers markets , walked passed the fire pit saw the sign advertising the forum but there was no room to sit for the homeless or anyone else. When we were getting back into our car , a white pick up parked in a handicap spot a guy got out and met a woman ,she pulled something out of her pack sack and he had a cord and made sure what ever she had fit. He went back to his truck and came back with a hand full of 20 dollar bills , then two guys arrived on bicycles and she split the money , this all happened while the forum was going on one door down. Wonder who set up the lawn chair and chesterfield on the corners to get attention at the same time , hope they plan to take them away.
Its 4 pm and the chesterfield and lawn chair on the corners on 3rd and dominion have disappeared, must have been a PUBLICITY stunt, to bring attention to the cause, only in P.G. I am sure the News media was all over it.
Great, nice analysis but not really fair and missing some insight. It obviously has been missed that Koehler challenged the mayor a few times and spoke at length about what can be done and what has been missed. He is an important part of the coming council. It all comes down to leadership and brains. Koehler certainly has brains, something that should be utilized!
