Prince George, B.C. – Friday marked the final day for candidates in the 2014 civic elections to withdraw their names from the ballot.
As of the 4pm closing one person, Dawn Taylor, had withdrawn from the city councilor election. So that means 25 candidates will be vying for the eight councilor seats up for grabs November 15th, while the mayor’s race is a two-man battle between Lyn Hall and Don Zurowski.
There were no withdrawals from the District 57 School Board election, so there will be 18 people contending the seven seats on the Board of Education.

It’s just too bad that a few of the incumbents didn’t withdraw.
I agree lildigger…like all those who are now on or were once on city council.
I see herrie greenie is milking one last taxpayer funded trip to Ottawa as we speak to pick up the torch for the games.
You meant all incumbents I hope.. Monkeys throwing darts at a board could have done better for pg over the last 6 yrs.
We are in far worse shape.. No incumbent can be relying on their track record to garnish votes. They should all be embarrassed as to where we are now compared to 2 elections ago. If the incumbents really want what’s best for pg they should all quit.
What happens if nobody votes?
It looks real easy on how to vote for the councillors NO ONE , remember you need not vote for anyone just because you vote , especially when all the candidates are either old and stale or have nothing for experience to bring to the table .
Considering all the dissatisfaction, it’s perplexing that more of the know it alls from this site didn’t put their names forward. I guess it’s easier to sit on the sidelines .
You running for mayor or council JB ?
Its not very scientific but here is how you sort through the abundance of councillors: take the list of current councillors and vote anyone but.
