Ale Fest a New Event for P.G.
Prince George, B.C.- It’s a taste testing event that will be new to Prince George, but one which organizers hope will become an annual event.
AleFest is set for January 31st, and it will bring ten craft beer makers to the City to share their wares.
Tanya Doran is the marketing and communications contact for the Kiwanis organized event. “We just wanted to do something different ” says Doran who says they wanted to coordinate with ColdSnap, the winter music festival. While ColdSnap has arranged to hold its festival during the Canada Winter Games in 2015, it will be providing the musical entertainment for the January 31st beer tasting event.
Craft beer makers from across B.C. and the Yukon, will be attending the one day event which will see two tasting sessions, one in the afternoon and another more formal session in the evening.
Beers that will be available will offer a variety of tastes, from pumpkin and chocolate infused brews, to dark porters and stouts, to pale ales, there is plenty of variety to tempt the palate.
“There is a huge cult following for craft beer” says Doran. “We just want people to come and support a local event that will support Kiwanis”. Most of the money raised will stay in the community for a variety of Kiwanis projects.
Brewers already confirmed for the event are:
Pacific Western and Scandal Brewing from Prince George, Barkerville Brewing from Quesnel, Cannery Brewing from Penticton, Granville Island Brewing from Vancouver, Sherwood Mountain Brewing from Terrace, Three Ranges Brewing from Valemount, Wheelhouse Brewing of Prince Rupert, Stanley Park brewing from Delta, and Yukon Brewing from Whitehorse. Many of the participants have received awards for their brewing excellence.
The event will be taking place at the Two Rivers Art Gallery. Buying tickets early for this charitable event will save you some dollars as they are $55 dollars each before January 4th, and $65 dollars if purchased after that date. Tickets are ONLY available on line at www.kiwanisalefest.ca .
