A Smashing Good Time at Exploration Place
Prince George, B.C. – It was tough to tell who was having more fun outside Exploration Place Saturday, the little kids or the big kids.
Despite a nippy wind chill everyone seemed to enjoy the annual Rotten Pumpkin Festival in the parking lot at the museum and science centre. And the person getting, perhaps, the biggest kick out of firing pumpkins out of a catapult and watching them either hit their target or smashing on the ground was Exploration Place CEO Tracy Calogheros.
She led her staff in organizing the event and led the crowd of youngsters in hollering out the “3-2-1” countdown before every launch. And the guys flinging the pumpkins from the catapult, which, according to one of them is kept “in a shed somewhere around here” from year to year, had just as much fun watching to see if they hit the target down range.
Youngsters eagerly placed their pumpkin in line and awaited its launch while mom or dad paid the $2 fee, all of which goes to childrens’ programming at the museum.
