Prince George, B.C. – The final meeting of the  current Mayor and council for the City of Prince George has concluded, with Councillors and the Mayor  offering a few final words.

For certain, Mayor Shari Green will not be in the Mayor’s chair  after November 15th.   There will be at least one new face  on Council as Lyn Hall is vacating his seat to  take a shot  at the Mayor’s chair.

Councillor Brian Skakun started,   saying its been an interesting 3 years “There have been ups and downs”  but says there has been a lot of good news over the past three years “everyone has worked hard at the table”.

Councillor Murry Krause  said he wanted to acknowledge how quickly three years has gone by, and thanked his colleagues for their involvement  in the 100th Anniversary celebrations “I just want to thank everyone for being so respectful,  that’s a hallmark of how this Council has been.  He says while they may not always have agreed,  “we have always been respectful.”

Councillor Cameron Stolz “It’s been an interesting term”  he says he has learned more, “things are constantly  changing.”  Stolz said the council  has diverse opinons, “at the end of the day, we make good decisions, ” and pointed out that at the end of the day,  97%  of the decisions had  unanimous  agreement.

Councillor Frank Everitt,  “The learning  curve was steep but  it was good.”

Councillor Lyn Hall, thanked staff and Mayor Green for their service .  In reference to  staff “You are really a stellar group of professionals  and the community needs to know that” he pointed out that all, are ” all working for the betterment of the community.”

Councillor Dave Wilbur, offered thanks first to Mayor Green for her service and  her family for  their support. “We accomplished a lot over these past three years.  Certainly we have  different opinions because we have different backgrounds.”

Councillor Garth Frizzell  offered thanks to the Mayor for her time, and to staff.  “This is it , this is the final tour” said Frizzell, who noted  unlike the Rolling Stones, there will be no reunion tour.

Councillor Albert Koehler,  also thanked Mayor Green for her leadership, “Certainly has not been easy for you”  and added “at the same time I would like to thank staff, the doors were always open.”

Mayor Green  says she  “has poured her heart and soul” into  the past six years  at City Hall.  she also thanked staff,  IMG_1583[1]and  asked  people to be more conscious of  words,   her voice  shook, “There is no such thing as perfect,  I am  very proud of the work this Council has  done”

She says  for  her,  she says  she has  achieved most of the goals she had promised  when elected. “I think the community will be well served by some of the things this council  has focused on.”

“For me, it’s been great, I’m really excited about my future” she turned  her mic off to  gather her thoughts,  tears started to flow, and  her voice  shook, “I  thought I wasn’t going to cry, but,  I’m at the  end, it’s just been an honour and a privilege and with that I’l just say thanks.”

Council, staff and  people in the gallery  rose to  applaud ,  give  the Mayor a  standing ovation,  and  a farewell.

Oh Shari, bye bye.

I’m so glad they could applaud themselves on the wonderful job they did…..

Friggin seriously ?

They gallery gave her a standing O? Are you sure it wasn’t a standing middle finger? Good riddance to bad rubbish.

How seriously hypocritical of some council members. As if they’d been respectful of the mayor’s chair all the way along. Have to admit I liked the ‘thanks’ to mayor best that came with the old saying, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all. by saywhat, you couldn’t have summed it up any better!

Good bye Green. You won’t be missed! You have tricked us into believing that you wanted to save the taxpayers money while you hired yourself extra help, at our expense plus we paid for a trip to China for you. I am sure you are laughing all the way to the bank.
I also hear that the Conservatives don’t want you either after the mess you have created in Prince George.

Finally….. Thanks for,the debt

Worst three years ever. Couldn’t even shovel snow properly but good at shoveling what comes out of a bulls rear end.

Good riddance all of you.

Oh my what a happy group

well sherry got thrown under the bus.good thing they weren’t at sea on a ship she would have walked the plank. remember people all the unanimous.voting that went on. the wanna be mayor and council.make your vote count start with a clean slate, for 4 years

Good thing the last meeting wasn’t on Thanksgiving Day – the taxpayers would be thankful for this council for the following items.. snow removal, trip to China and wherever, increase in utility bill, pot capital of the world, Canada Game tax, core review, road repair and the list goes on. Should they applaud themselves??

Pot capital of the world? OK, now you’re just making things up. Hold her/them accountable for their factual failings. There’s plenty to go around.

Pylot Project – how about pot-holes (12 months of the year)- would that be better!!

LOL! Ya that’s better. :D

Standing O, give me a break!! As for her future, let’s hope she is smart enough not to run for the Conservative nomination, as she will lose and lose badly. If she does and does get in, the NDP and Liberal nominee will be having the time of their lives knowing that the seat is theirs to win.
How can someone who is so disliked ever think that she can represent our riding in the next election!

Hey she isn’t the only Mayor that made am trip to China. So you think she was a terrible Mayor I wonder where she got the 80 thousand for her campaign for Mayor. There is only one problem with her and that is that she is a PC and it that was the big problem.

You got exactly what you deserve. Get off your ass and encourage your friends to get out and vote. A 27% vote is a sure cure for disaster..
Cheers

Retired 02,
I agree, we got exactly what we deserved as Mayor, so let this not happen again, get your conservative membership so that you can vote on Dec. 15th.
Let the conservative party know that WE DO NOT WANT HER!
