Shari Green Enters Conservative Nomination Battle
Prince George, B.C. – It’s official. Outgoing Prince George Mayor Shari Green has declared her intention to seek the Conservative party nomination in the Cariboo-Prince George riding.
She made her intentions known at the Sandman Signature Inn in front of dozens of supporters this afternoon.
Those included Royal Canadian Legion Zone Commander John Scott, Northern Development Initiative Trust CEO Janine North, Lee Stewart of the VLA Enhancement Association and Carla Johnston with the Downtown Business Improvement Association.
Green told the gathering she offers the riding strong representation and a proven track record including negotiating one of the lowest municipal wage contracts in the province at two years at net zero.
She described her decision to run as “an evolution” acknowledging she’s been “gauging support and talking to people in a number of different capacities throughout the region.”
Green also says the riding expects more than has been delivered under the leadership of current MP Dick Harris.
“People are looking for something more. And they don’t want more of the same. They’re ready for fresh representation and a fresh perspective.”
The other declared candidates include TJ Grewal, Gerald Caron, Todd Doherty, and Nick Fedorkiw

I really am expecting more. I really hoped a failed Mayor and biggest municipal election mistake in years would step up to be the face of our region in Ottawa. What an idiot.
There’s no need for personal attacks.
Mayor Green had no issue with personal attacks with her response to citizens of PG. Those emails have been made quite public.
She doesnt stand a chance… wonder what makes her think with what she did to PG as mayor we would want her to do to the region.. sure glad there are a few more running for the position..
We all know that past performance dictates future performance.. she was over her head as mayor.. she would drown in federal politics.
I really hope she isnt ignorant enough to think she did a good job as mayor.
She’s campaigning “on lowest municipal wage contracts in the province at two years at net zero”? Excuse me, but how much did you pay for that foul mouthed lawyer to negotiated that contract? $400+ an hour plus travel expenses equals? Oh yeah, as tax payers we were told none of your business! I guess that answer speaks to her future transparency plan as well!
Wow, theres no shortages of egos amongst these wanna bee politicians.
I was rather ammused when on monday night at council meeting how many times the mayor and council talked about how professional they all have been.
The truth is our taxes went up and up while all these important people performed proffessionally. The city council is in for 4 years this time, I hope we have some new faces on council. I hear a lot of good things about Lynn Hall .

From opinion 250 article in November 15th, 2013
Locals 1048 and 399 have issued a release this morning, in response to the City’s release of earlier this week, which said the P.G. CUPE members are among the highest paid in the province.
Hmm….if they are the highest paid, why would you not negotiate the lowest raise. I am not so sure Shari is a good negotiator.
Just the facts!!
I took it upon myself to send Mayor Green a private email congratulating her and offering insight on snow removal and other things that could apply in PG. We used these processes in Fort St. John and improved the snow removal time, cut the cost, etc. We got to the point where 100% of the roads were cleared within 36 hours after a snowfall ended, and at half the cost per km of road. I sent that email December 13, 2013. Mayor Green did not respond or follow up. Subsequently the City paid an American firm $130,000 to tell them what their own staff already know and what neighboring communities would gladly share for nothing.
I have many friends and family in PG. I have not heard one that thinks Mayer Green measured up to the standards of John Backhouse, Colin Kinsley or even Dan Rogers. And now she wishes to be MP. I’m glad I don’t live in that riding! Please examine the other candidates for the Tories and select the best of the rest.
Absolutely agree with Green. “people are looking for something more. And they don’t want more of the same.” That is why I am supporting TJ Grewal!!!
I’m pretty sure the Conservatives have zero appetite for someone who happily donated campaign funds to the “socialist” NDP party… just saying!
JB:”There’s no need for personal attacks.”
Unless it has to do with the issue of the non-binding opinion poll!
Then you do it yourself without giving it a second thought!
OMG!
BTW, I agree that personal attacks on the ex mayor are cheap and un-called for! Criticism of her past performance is totally fair! I wish her success in her new venture! Stephen, watch out! She is going to go right to the top!
Just went online and bought my entire family memberships in the Conservative party of Canada! I’m supporting whomever has the best chance to knock this loon off her perch! I encourage all in the riding to put your $15 where your mouth is and buy a membership, show up to vote, and have your say. If we don’t, she’s going to be collecting a 6 figure pension in just two terms, and we’ll be left with the bill! #worstmayorever!
Give it a rest, PG.
Did you turn a new leaf JB since the teachers strike. You had no issues with attacks then.
Having a differing point of view is not a personal attack, although many people do take it personally.
So in the end, even if the majority of the voters would agree that your solution is the best and value your job done as negotiating a contract, the only votes you will get are from people who happen to agree with you also on all the other secondary issues, no matter if you have really thought about them or you are just appearing to following the party line. So your probability to get elected depends mostly on completely different issues and your track record as the former Mayor of Prince George. Hard sell!
As far as I’m concerned Ms. Green, as well as anyone who enters a political arena, should expect both positive and negative comments directed at them personally. I actually feel a little sorry for her. She doesn’t seem to understand the full impact of her actions as the Mayor of PG. She blew it BIG TIME!
JohnnyBelt, her running for this riding is a display of her arrogance. She failed at Mayor, and she believes shes qualified for a higher level of govn’t.
PG wasn’t happy with the performance, and I’m sure Quesnel, Williams Lake, and Vanderhoof have all heard our complaints. She doesn’t have a chance.
To be eligible to vote for the conservative representative and make sure green doesn’t represent us in Ottawa, we all need to spend $15 and register as conservative members on the general conservative website BEFORE November 20th so we can vote for someone else. But if TJ Grewel is denied candidacy, is Todd Doherty the next best shot against the green team?
poll on this blog would be Green 0 someone else 8. says a little I think.
with 3 terms in office, what are the chances that the federal conservatives will retain their position?
I get the feeling that a lot of people are not happy with the current regime.
With that in mind, let the fedcons have her. This will give this riding to another party, maybe even the Horgan lead NDP.
Normally I am a conservative supporter. Since Horgan took over the leadership of the NDP, he keeps saying stuff that makes sense including funding options for their proposals.
We can’t really afford to split our votes.
Loki, you’re confusing provincial and federal. Federal leader of the NDP is Mulcaire
now she will have to talk to ben we cant let this happen
Seriously. Does it really matter who runs for the conservatives. The ideologically challenged voters in PG will follow anyone who runs like lemmings heading for the sea.
I would love to hear Ben have an interview with Shari on the radio! I would love to hear her reassert her opinion of herself and the great job she’s done here! Ha, ha!
JB:”Having a differing point of view is not a personal attack, although many people do take it personally.”
You need professional help, the sooner the better.
Give more.. Will never happen, Shari is scared of Ben. She knows he will ask real questions, not pander to her like the citizen.
This should be the best early Christmas present ever!
Send Stolz packing on the 15th and send scary Sherrie to the pasture on the 20th!
Remember who Her pals are as well. Don’t support their businesses or friends.
These people need to learn to play fair.
Funny thing is shari’s female supporters???
Carla works for?? Remember her boss is the guy that claimed to be an old friend of shari’s!! Who cried foul when a certain ex mla didn’t cooperate. Remember people?? This all ties together.
The ndit woman and the wood innovation Center fiasco?
What does negotiating one of the lowest municipal wage contracts have to do with being an effective MP? At least as Mayor you have some control. If Shari doesn’t have the support of Harper (meaning agreeing to everything the party whip tells her to do), she will be left in the back benches like Harris. Either way, it’s lose/lose.
Dozens of supporters.. So 25 ppl..shouldn’t she figure out that isn’t called support. Shows she can’t gauge a thing.. I would laugh if it wasn’t so,pathetic
Sherri and some of her supporters, ie; Stolz, took over the Conservative Constituency for the Prince George South riding. Anyone who thinks that she does not have any support is living in a dream world.
Those who are opposed to her being the Conservative nominee, should do as stated above and join the Conservatives so that they are entitled to vote at the nomination. It will take a large number of votes to stop her. If you have a problem joining the Conservatives, perhaps in this instance you should hold your nose and do so, because the alternative might be having Sherri around for the next 10 years or so. One can always let their membership lapse if they chose to.
People must join before Nov 20th so time is of the essence.
My guess is that if Sherri doesn’t go Conservative, then she will take a run a Shirley Bonds riding, if Shirley should retire.
In any event if she wins the nomination she will lose the riding, because even hard core Conservatives will not vote for her.
Having problems getting the proper Conservative website – anyone want to share it?

She will NEVER get my vote or any other sane person’s vote who knows she was the poorest mayor, and most expensive mayor, ever known in Prince George. She deliberately mislead the people of PG of her intentions during the last municipal election. After being elected, she immediately hired herself an assistant at taxpayers’ expense. Her expense account was the highest ever known for an elected individual in Prince George.
I agree, she does not have a chance of the conservation nomination. The conservatives don’t want her, as I hear from the rumour mill!
Speak up Dick Harris and indicate your favourite to replace you!
Someone needs to hold an anti-green rally to ensure that voting against is united and consistent – we don’t want to accidentally split the vote!
Speak up Dick Harris and indicate your favourite to replace you!

He already did, Todd Doherty.
Website to join party is
conservative.ca
JB:”Having a differing point of view is not a personal attack, although many people do take it personally.”
PG: “You need professional help, the sooner the better.”
Lol, that’s a good one. As long as you keep pushing your misinformation PG, I’ll be there. Sorry if you take it personally.
It’s so funny that so many people are anti-Green. She must have some supporters. She did get elected Mayor.
Take Action Now – Thank you. The websites I got on said $10 when many say $15 and knew the $10 was not right. Like they will offer a discount lol….
Finally just went into Dick Harris site and found it much easier,
https://donate.conservative.ca/membership?lang=en&utm_source=organic&utm_medium=conservative_ca&utm_campaign=nav_join
I have never needed to join a Political Party until I heard what Green has been doing.
She was a terrible mayor as far as I am concerned and I never voted for her and her cronies….
I have voted in every election whether municipal, provincial or federal.
Enough is enough!
No, Dan got voted out, he made some critical errors or she would not have gotten in. JohnnyBelt what is up with you? You are usually more on the ball than your comments today.
I did here she had some supporters but as soon as she got on the bus she kicked them all off but Stoltz and Wilber.
I was wrong, I saw her website. She has 3 suporters all from outside pg. She apparently saved us $800,000. Lol lol lol lol
sorry my keyboard got stuck.
Oh yes, she did get elected mayor, and then what…..we all tried to drive on those AWFUL roads last year….and what did she do about that…..NOTHING! No, she will never get my vote. I got out of hospital and had to drive home with a friend on those roads….the ruts and bumps I felt after my surgery were most painful. NO, she will never get my vote for anything.
Her daughter sure looks a lot like her in the picture.
After reading all the comments, and reading their bio’s, I am backing Todd Doherty,
As for Shari Green I never voted for her in the last election, She is definitely not on my priority list.
I haven’t laughed this hard in a very long time. Thanks for the early April Fools joke Shari. Oh wait, were you serious? NEVER will you get my vote and maybe that pile of money you are going to blow on your campaign will teach you not to even try next time.
So you think Shari has no supporters. Where did the 80 bucks come from to elect her as mayor?
Cheers
there I go again It should read 80thousand bucks
What would Shari Green say to people in a riding the size of the Cariboo-Prince George riding if we did not agree with her. I guess she would have to tell us to go find greener pastures in China? That comment she made in the Citizen still to this day makes me dislike anything she stands for. Did she apologize for that remark? NO arrogance at its best. You slapped the people of PG in the face with that comment Ms. Green and therefor you do not deserve one vote from Prince George because we all have disagreed with you from time to time.
