Prince George, B.C.-  Fourteen year old Kaitlyn Martin of Prince George, is working  hard to win a spot on Team BC for the Canada Winter Games, and Integris Credit Union  is showing  its support for her  effort.

Kaitlyn is the skier now depicted on a huge  mural  on the  Victoria Street  facing side of the Integris building in Prince George.

“Our vision, when developing the Town Centre Canada Winter Games mural  was to showcase a local athlete who projects the intensity and confidence that we as Northerners feel as we host the nation” says Dan Wingham, Manager of Partnerships at Integris.

He says once they saw the photo  of Kaitlyn   in competition, there was no question,   she was the  one they  wanted to  showcase.

The look on her face  shows she is one fierce competitor.  ( at right,  image that is  now  on the side of the building).

integrisSeeing herself ‘larger than life’ is “really exciting” says Kaitlyn. “People are going to  see me when they  drive past on the street,  so it’s really exciting.  My friends have already seen it and say ‘oh my gosh  we can see your face, it’s so cool’.”

Kaitlyn  says  having her image on  display  makes her want to  make  Team BC even more “There’s  lots of  pressure on me,  I’m part of the athlete approved group, and now I  have this and I really want to make it ( to the team)  so  I’m going to try  harder than ever now, and train my butt off.”

She says all that pressure will be behind her, when she starts down the hill “I get in my zone when I race,  I just focus  on doing well and getting down the hill.”

Integris also presented her with a  gift pack, including  a framed  version of the photo  used  to create the mural.

Integris is an Official Community Partner of the 2015 Canada Winter Games, sponsoring the Alpine events at Purden Ski Village it’s a sponsorship that Kaitlyn’s father Jim Martin says   will have lasting benefits “Things Integris is doing,  like providing safety netting and all kinds of gear  that will benefit  races throughout the north, and that is just amazing for us to see alpine skiing grow.”
