Prince George, B.C. – Two more schools in School District 57 , will be benefiting from the Jumpstart program.
More than $20 thousand dollars in equipment is being donated to Peden Hill and Westwood Elementary Schools by Selen Alpay and the local Canadian Tire Jumpstart Chapter.
Jumpstart Goals and Dreams program is a hockey program for at risk students aged 10 – 13. The five month program is open to boys and girls and offers weekly ice time with a certified hockey instructor.
For some of the students this will be the first time they have ever had an opportunity to play hockey.
The program has already been in play at Harwin Elementary. Harwin Aboriginal education worker Aleph Gagnon says the program doesn’t just bring hockey to the students “It gives students an opportunity to try something new, build stronger connections to the school community and build their self confidence all while being part of a structured physical activity that they often would never have the chance to try.”

What a great opportunity for kids that would not necessarily have the chance to play. Thank you to all that are involved to make this happen.
