Strong Support for Poppy Campaign

Prince George, B.C. – It’s been an impressive run for poppy sales in Prince George.poppy(3)

Zone Commander John Scott with the Royal Canadian Legion says sales have been so brisk that they had to order another 5,000 on just the second day of the campaign.

“We’ve had to scratch around just to make sure we had enough. We had 50,000 to start with and we weren’t out but we could see the level was going down pretty fast.”

He attributes the increase “to the events that happened in Ottawa” and says there’s a good chance they could surpass the roughly $80,000 raised last year.

Scott says all proceeds go towards veterans and their dependents for such things as wheelchairs and dental coverage.

Never forget those who fought for our country.

Please, be a proud Canadian and support our veterans and current military, because our government doesn’t.

Wait a minute. Wheelchairs and dental coverage are NOT benefits that veterans, who have been in combat, are automatically entitled to? What else are they waiting on public donations for?

Furbink… yes it is appauling how we treat our veterans… our politicians get great benefits, digustingly good retirement package.. and yet they keep cutting back on what veterans get.. its shamefull.
