Hall- Final Pitch

Friday, November 14, 2014 @ 10:02 AM

IMG_1670[1]Prince George, B.C.- Mayoral candidate  Lyn Hall ” says  there are  things  that  separate him from his  competition   in the mayoral race “I’ve talked from the very beginning,  that what sets me apart is my  leadership style, my inclusiveness on council and my plan to reconnect with the community.”Hall says  he is aware  there is a possible backlash  against any incumbents, but says  the  scenario changes   when there is a change in the Mayor’s chair.   “The Mayor sets the agenda,  the Mayor controls the meeting.”

He says he is concerned about transparency as well.  “There are many ways to  do that” says Hall, ” People come to me and say how do we get access to you guys? ”  He says  improving public information about how to reach  council and the Mayor will be a start.

As for the  close working relationship between  a Mayor and City Manager,  Hall says he  would include council in that working relationship, “They need to know what’s going on.”

Hall  says  during the  current council, he wasn’t in the loop,  that he cannot be tagged with the decisions of the administration.

He  encourages more meetings with the community in Hart Highlands over the phase two sewer installation, “We need to be absolutely on top of any granting that may be available.”

On the  future of Pine Valley golf course,  Hall says he wants to retain the course, but would like to  see housing  along the easement east of   Peden Hill  School and between Range and Ferry.  Hall says the course isn’t costing  taxpayers, that there is an operating agreement with a private operator in place, but he would like to extend that agreement. His competitor would like to see half the golf course sold .

A caller  asked about  what  Hall can do to increase  proper information to make  informed  decisions. “Council needs to  have more information, not just  the meeting  in Chambers.”  When asked what  he thought of the Haldi road  residents leaving the City, “I don’t want  them to leave the city, it would be  a huge negative for the city if they left,  absolutely  Haldi  will be heard.”

“what sets me apart is my style of leadership” says Hall,  who says” there will be no obstruction, no red tape” to get to him and council,  he says “people  need to know they  can reach council and  there are no ramifications.”

Strange that people cant contact council. To the best of my knowledge they all have an email address. I don’t remember what the issue was but I do, remember that Hall gave me a call.
Cheers

CATLA ENTERPRISES PROPOSED CAMPGROUND DEVELOPMENT
CROWN LAND LEASE APPLICATION MANAGEMENT PLAN
Catla Enterprises Crown Land Lease Application
Campground: Management Plan Page 9 of 9 April 29, 2014
designating future land uses for the accommodation of temporary construction workers. The
designated land use for the subject parcels are generally Residential plus the inclusion of the
commercial development at the intersection of Highway 599R and Wampler Way.
Due to the anticipated rapidity of population growth over the next 6-10 years in Port Edward,
the need for planned and organized development of temporary accommodation is quickly
becoming a pressing issue. Nearby communities are also facing a shortage of accommodation
facilities to meet the demands of the projected population growth over the next 5-10 years.
For this reason, Port Edward urgently requires this type of development and is supportive of
land acquisition and development adjacent to the future bypass road, Wampler Way.
We appreciate the opportunity to submit this management plan on behalf of Catla Enterprises
as part of a Crown Land Lease Application.
If you have any questions or require any additional information, please do not hesitate to
contact the undersigned.
Sincerely,
L&M Engineering Limited

1- Does this mean Cameron Stoltz can not vote on any land developments in front of our future council? L&M is a contractor of Stoltz company, Catla Enterprises. Stoltz has never removed himself from a vote when L&M Engineering has a project before council. Haldi being one of those.

2- Did NDI trust(Shari Green) pay to the city of Port Edward on behave of Catla Enterprises $10,000 dollars to do a study to construct Whopler Way and did L&M get that contract as well?

Some tough questions to consider.

And we listened to Cameron Stoltz say his toy business was hurting and he could not pay his City tax bill. OMG what a pitiful excuse.

His wishy washy leadership style is what sets him apart?

Clean sweep, let him go packing along with some of the rest of council lemmings

Not sure Lyn had a vision or plan when he announced running for Mayor?Seems he is now running on the platforms of Meetings on the Hart and his Leadership style.

Hall says during present council he wasn’t in the loop??? How does one add to that. Sleeping Beauty?

Seriously, we have a great library or if you want to buy the books, a number of excellent businesses in Prince George. Recommending ‘The Courageous Follower – Standing Up to and for Our Leaders and The 21 Irrefutable Law of Leadership; Follow them and people will follow you”

Best to everyone running for positions!

happy13, I think Stolz took his abilty to not operate a business very well into his inability to operate a city very well either.

I see nothing but special interest groups winning out in our city for the next 4 years, and the rest of us paying for it…like it or not….

I have yet to see or hear anything out of Lyn Hall that tells me what he stands for, what his vision for our city is or even what his priorities are?
Just a bunch of wishy washy non answers designed to never ever commit to any position on anything…that’s how he ran the school board and that’t what he will be like as mayor! If you want Dan Rogers 2.0 or even Shari Green 2.0 then vote for Hall!

Of course Hall called you retired02 – you live in the Fraser Valley. I think that Hall must be getting very uncomfortable from sitting on that fence!

he City should leave Pine Valley alone. Zurowski is Green 2.0; same leadership style and same campaign financial contributors., so I’m voting Hall.

NyteHawwk, to lump Dan Rogers and Shari Green as having the same style, if that is what you are saying, is difficult to imagine. They were polar opposites in my opinion. If you want another Shari Green, then the closet to that is Don Zurowski. I believe Lyn Hall is the best choice for our next mayor.

I have listened to all the air shows on CFIS -mixcloud, read what others have said in other newspaper venues and attended 2 candidate forums. I was at the Library on Wed. night and just looked at the questions another paper asked all candidates.

I have crossed some people off of my voting list as their answers to some of the questions were completely different from what they told me in person at the library.
I also found a couple of comments on the other radio news sites that were not printed in the papers etc. changing my mind again.

I am so tired of being lied to by these people it is no wonder people do not want to vote. As with all the elections I have been able to vote in, I feel it is my right to vote as many countries do not allow regular citizen to have any votes.

One needs to be informed. I sure hope others have done their homework. What a flippin chore…..

482 we have only lived in Abbotsford two years and we lived in PG for more then 30 years.
Cheers

Strictlyspeaking. Where did you get your information on campaign contributors?

Nytehawk: “If you want Dan Rogers 2.0 or even Shari Green 2.0 then vote for Hall!”

So then is it safe to say if you want Kinsley 2.0 you should vote Zurowski?

He encourages more meetings with the community in Hart Highlands over the phase two sewer installation, “We need to be absolutely on top of any granting that may be available…
REALLY!!! Well I don’t believe him .. I remember seeing him at a meeting in June 2014 at Hart Highlands school for the phase 1 residents .. stood at the back; did not say one word or come to the defence of the residents nor even attempt to ask a question(s) regarding the situation.

“Hall says during the current council, he wasn’t in the loop, that he cannot be tagged with the decisions of the administration.”

Crying over something he himself voted for on Dec 16, 2013.

More of the same for all new and old councilors unless changes are made to the “Code Of Conduct”. More meetings all over the city will do nothing to change the way councilors can get info from admin.

I think either one would make a good Mayor its to bad they would not be able to work together, as I think they both care about our City. I would like to remind them both we all want SAFE healthy neighbourhoods. As for the retired 02 person why did you leave P.G.?? your heart still seems to be here.

I vote for a Kinsley 2.0!

I think they could work together. Lyn as mayor and Don as city manager. Don would make more money and Lyn could make sure we know what was going on and we as the people of Prince George are heard.

Don could go in and be very decisive and make the cuts he need to make and move the city in the right direction. As a mayor as much as Don would like to Don can’t do that, as mayor. City council is a board of directors, they do governance. City manager makes things happen.

I vote for Don as the next City manager, well maybe not.

I will take Kinsley 2.0 over Rogers or Green 2.0 anytime!
At least you always knew where Colin was coming from and he wasn’t afraid to make a decision…even if it might of been unpopular!

Careful… Kinsley does not have a stellar record, jetting off to China and other lands while the roads crumbled at home.

Bitter, as I have said before we lived in PG for over 30 years. All our kids graduated from PGSS and we still have family in PG but we don’t have 250 so here I am.

We always voted at civic election and it seems so sad that there are so many that just think civic politics is all about ego. We were in PG when you had Harold Moffett, Backhouse and others. They were all about community. I guess Kingsley was the turning point when he spent 56 million on the gas deal. And then comes the energy project and last but not least 42 million for a cop shop.

As a tradesman I always had a job so we lived in a number of different communities and the last stop for us was Abbotsford in 1970 before we came to PG. It’s a great community to live in and raise a family but Abbotsford was always in our heart. I hope that answers your question Bitter.
Cheers

Retired:
Most important thing in the world is being happy where you retired to,
you’ve done that, good on yuh!

Moffat was a darn good mayor, think Hall will do just fine in the job.

Guesswhat….I also was at the library Wednesday night and I also was told different answers by some of the candidates than what their responses were in the Citizen to the same question. As far as Hall’s response to “Haldi will be heard”?? is it too little too late?? We shall see tomorrow.

Like both Hall and Zuroski. They have different styles but both are very concerned about this community. A hard choice for those who live in the city.
