No Side Wins Referendum

Sunday, November 16, 2014 @ 4:15 AM

Prince George, B .C. – Dave  Fuller has been pushing  to have  the City of Prince George stop the practice  of adding fluoride to the water supply.

Last night, he  took another step towards that happening.

The referendum that was part of the  ballot,  had voters  vote 10171  to  have the city  stop the practice of  adding fluoride to the water.  8764 voted in favour  of  the  continuation of the practice.

Fuller was  busy out picking up the  Vote No signs when 250News reached him to  get his reaction to the vote “I am just out here picking up the signs,  I had to do something  to get rid of the nervous energy.”

He says he  just wants to  offer some thanks to all who  worked to get  this result. “A lot of people worked really hard, so thanks to them.”

The  referendum is non binding, but  Fuller is confident the  new Mayor and Council will follow through with the wishes of residents  “All the Councillors who were running and both mayor candidates indicated  they would respect the vote, and I expect they will.”

As for  the  side which wanted  fluoridation to continue, Dr. William Osei  accepts the results “The residents of Prince George have decided to discontinue with the fluoridation of the water system.”  He says  as far as the  Health for All coalition is concerned it will continue  to promote fluoridation as a method  of helping all “especially the most vulnerable.”

Dr. Osei says  it is disappointment  “But  we ( Northern Health) will have to work around it,and make sure  we  bring  good health to all of our residents.”

The question will be – how long before the flouridation stops – new mayor and council – start the process now not tomorrow !

The No side did everyone in PG a favour. If you feel you still need that extra fluoride you can get it in different forms. You can bet any form that is available to you will be medical grade not the industrial grade crap they were using here.

I seen a few Yes to fluoride signs floating around. I wonder who paid for those?

well I am glad the “medication” without consent will end! and cleaning up the signs right away is awesome. Thanks Dave

The “NO” vote is not Bidding to City Hall.
They can and I hope they do not remove the fluoride.

That will depend on how many union jobs are at stake. I figure it probably takes 4 or 5 people to keep the fluoride flowing. Can’t have our brothers out of work now can we?

So your hoping the new council will ignore what the majority of voters want? If you want fluoride in your water Norther Health will give you drops that you can administer to yourself and family as it should be free choice.

53.7%. I actually thought the No side would have a higher number than that. Not exactly an overwhelming majority on a non-binding item.

This is democracy at its best! When people with a PhD from the University of Google and a pre-major in confirmation bias have equal say to umm…experts. I only hope with it so close, the mayor and council take the advise of these experts. To Dr. Osei and all the rest of the individuals who tried to combat this ignorance, my hat is off to you. To all of the people without access to adequate dental care or those unable to properly care for their teeth, I am sorry. PG has failed you.

Good one axeman. The will likely need special training to turn the valve the other way.

How many people voted no because there were signs up around town? How many people voted no based on partial information provided by the no side? I highly doubt the majority of the voters actually researched the issue. A small number of people pushed an agenda and created enough fear to get their way.

If the yes voters want fluoride then I would suggest brushing your teeth with a fluoride toothpaste daily, for the rest of us educated people that don’t want an industrial toxin in our drinking water we should not be subjected to it.

Internet mouthpieces would never stand face to face with any union member and spew their childish garbage.

Fluoride in water has been a non-issue from the get go. Took a lot of time an effort for nothing. It never really did any harm in the water, and it will do no harm if it comes out. So who really cares. It will be a forgotten issue one week after they pass the motion to remove it.

What will these people do for entertainment now that this issue is dead?? Of all the serious issue’s that this world is faced with, fluoride is the one I am least concerned with. Thank goodness its over.

You may be right Dragon, the risk of physical assualt and intimidation by union drones keep many behind a keyboard.
